Works of art....
« on: August 19, 2008, 03:25 PM »
Just had a client here and she said looking at my bikes in the office (on their stands) that they look like works of art, very clean, shiny and on show etc... and that got me thinking that these "show" bikes have really become pieces of art, especially if they are not ridden at all (I know mine aren't).

So have any of you lot had any comments like that? I get the usual from a few people i.e. what's the fook have you got a load of bikes in your office for?  :knuppel2: and others simply are amazed of the dedication to get these bikes together and the time its taken to complete them...  :) so if you regard your bikes as works of art, do many of you have these on show in the house or just in the loft? My missus Lucie is fine with either which is good and she does like the look of them thank god and knows the effort I put into them too and thinks its a waste if they are tucked away for no-one to see. Be interested to hear your thoughts on this and see any pics regarding this subject....

my Mrs hates em!  and i have zero space at home so i keep all mine at work........my office mates just put up with them (like they have much of a choice)  but mine are nowhere near works of art in comparison to show bikes.......i ride all mine at some point  :daumenhoch:

My missus isn't happy with my new found hobby neither. I have bikes and parts all over the house. Apparently they get in her way until they're  finished then they are slung in the loft until i fancy a play on one.

My latest build has been a very slow one and is down stairs in the hall, i've just removed the grips from the bars and at the same time the bike slipped over and the bar end has just taken a nice chunk out of the laminate floor.

She's pissing fire at the moment. :LolLolLolLol: there is no way she would want them on a wall.
One build a year, the only way to get it right. No rushing involved.

I get that comment all the time! I have a candy green Standard frame in my living room and my Standard show bike in the hall, people often compare them to art.....and to me they are.

I've got a few hung up on fishing wire in my office, & everyone (apart from the missus) loves em, especially lads my age who can remember 'em from BITD.
