Right I am looking to build a new mid-school bike, however I need some advice from you mid-school gurus.

What tyres were used on a 95/96 race bike?  What are the options?

Wow, were Comp III's still the tyre to have in 95/96?  The Comp III is such a cool timeless tyre.

go with the comp 3s. amberwall!

not many used the gt because of the smooth rib in the middle lost traction

the dirtmonsters came out after 96

Without question in my book the amberwall dirt tyre to have in the 90's was the GT Megabite. Ritchey did the Ritchey Megabite mtb tyre based on the same pattern, whcih then became the Ritchey Z Max.
Cant go wrong with comp 3's though!

Primo V-Trak.  That was my favorite rear, with a 2.0 Megabite backwards on the front.
