One for the bofs..........What forks???????
« on: August 15, 2008, 12:42 PM »
Picked these up today. They are NOS. They look identical to GEN1 Haro forks. Any ideas please what bike they went on? Got Reynold 501 decals on each fork leg.

Not rebel.

I presume they are a UK made fork although i know SE used Reynolds Tubing on their quads.

Anyone else?

I have tried looking under UK bikes in the museum and i cant find nothing!

Did reynolds make copy Haro Gen 1 forks?

Nick

daz bmx it!

Reynolds is the tube manufacturer not the fabricator, I would say Rickman or Firebird perhaps giving the brazing but it's anyone's guess tbh.

Basically this is now put to bed.

Reynolds still make a fork called 'fork blades'!! Just checked their website!

Looks like these are Reynolds own forks and that they copied the Haro fork design. :daumenhoch:

Solved!

I'm intrigued, where did you find the information about the fork blades?  They list the tubing components they make here, http://www.reynoldstechnology.biz/downloads/frameparts.pdf no 531 listed though as that went out of production back in the early 90's.  As far as I know Reynolds supply the bits of tubing, they do not fabricate their own forks, they leave that to the likes of Dave Hinde, Argos, Ribble, etc.

Not that I want to rain on your parade or anything, they could just be 531 tubed Haro copies made by someone in Taiwan  :-\.  Are there any markings anywhere on them?  I remember a company doing the Haro knock-off f&f bitd, perhaps these are a set of those forks?  Romblerk has a scan of the advert for those somewhere and Billy had a couple of copy sets.

Puzzled, possibly dazed and definitely confused  :LolLolLolLol:

These forks have been sitting in a dusty bag for over 20 years so the stickers were not added at a latter stage. The shop owner said they were the same as Haro's so they probably are copies and were made as copies. :-\

The stickers indicate 'Fork blades' and Reynolds still make a product called  'fork blades' so i assumed these were made by Renolds as a brand of fork that they were producing?

Obviously the tubing 501 and 531 is no longer produced. :daumenhoch:
