That'd be a huge shim matey! I'd be scared of it moving around, and cracking the frame.

Why do you need an OS seat post?

Is it a layback?

Does the old school post fit inside the new one, if it does just run a hacksaw down a couple of inches and use that as the shim. From what you describe the shim would need to be about 2.5mm thick. Hope this makes sense as I'm struggling to put into words what I am thinking. :crazy2:
