Hi guys

Having bought Dark Digglers Torker 280X Freestyler to knock around on, I've bought my first f/f to build from Wish i'd kept my TA at MK08.

It's a Gen2 Haro Freestyler Master (Torker built) from 1984, nicely restored.

I am looking to build as close to factory as I can.  The 1984 specs where:

Grips: Oakley B2, Blue
Bars: Vector Bob Haro, Chrome
Stem: None
Brakes: Dia Compe MX900, Annodized Blue with Tech 3 Levers and Green Cables
Headset: Hatta Alloy, Annodized Blue
Seatpost Clamp: Dia Compe Hinged, Annodized Blue
Seatpost: Anlun Layback Smooth, Chrome
Seat: Cycle Pro Shotgun II, Blue
Wheels: Skyway Tuff IIs with coasterbrake, alloy front hub, White
Tires: Cycle Pro Snakebelly
Cranks: Sugino CT 175mm, Chrome
Chainring: Sugino 43T, Annodized Blue
Pedals: MKS Grafight, Black

This is going to be a tough one to achieve and could take a long time to get the components.  So I am going to build the bike with as many original matches as possible, but substitute components where I have to in order to get the bike built in the next few months.

So any advice or help sourcing the components would be much appreciated.  There are some awesome Haro's with members on here so any tips, advice and information would be much appreciated.

I'll chart the progress of the build on this thread.

Really excited about getting one of the most iconic BMX's ever made  :smitten:

Very nice  :daumenhoch:

I've replied to your wanted post - just one question, why go with Bob's bars instead of VC10's?

Great choice. I would add though that the stock tyre on the masters were actually schwinn maximisers although snakies look great as well. I also agree with Philip, they do look very nice with VC10 vectors on, take a look at Jays in the museum.

You may also be flogging a dead horse with the anlun layback, rocking horse $hit springs to mind.

Its gonna cost you a few quid but they are well worth the effort, even if you never build another bike.

vert ego still have sugino CT175's NOS i think

best of luck  :daumenhoch:

Good to meet you at MK too  :)

Good luck with your hunt, I think you got lucky that Moose should have a lot of what your looking for, he does actually have everything ever made for BMX  ;)

OK so you Haro guys what do you use to secure the rear brake cable?  What was done BITD?

I have put a couple of thin black cable ties atm.

Getting the axles redone on the tuffs this week and got to source some plastic washes to protect the f&f when I mount the wheels and its all done.

I have a Shotgun II coming this week to complete the bike  :smitten:

Some more pics in not great light....

Every thing is factory spec.  I have some Oakley B2's coming and the only compromises are the headset, need a blue Hatta, and the seatpost.

Hi Damon,
Sweet build mate :smitten: I have just bought a Gen 1 master off Jay and like you i'm keen to build as close to factory as possible (i doubt as quickly as you have). Can i just check with all you in the know if the brakes should be mx900 or mx1000?

Hope it comes out as good as yours :daumenhoch:

James

Oh if anyone has any parts give us a pm :daumenhoch:

Click on Gallery and select the spec of the one you have under the title "Curious to know about the Factory Build Specs for the Master, Sport & FST?"

That's were I got the spec for mine.

I believe you are looking for MX900 and Tech3 levers.
