kashi & suntour stem OE!?
« on: January 13, 2006, 01:00 PM »
hey guys as u know im slowly upgragding the team burner,

i was wondering were kashimax or suntour stems ever original equipment on burners,
im trying to keep mine original with a twist so i have a blue SR stem on order as mine has the standard steel one,
also im hunting a NOS aeroroyal white seat.
i was wondering if suntours were OE and if they were better, though im not sure if i like the shape,
same for the kashi since i can easily get a replica.
let me know asap cheers!

Yep on the TANGE made aero pro and tange made team , suntour power stems and Kashimax aeros were OE

depends on your frame as to weather this is a TANGE or a replica Team Burner.

Look on the BB if it says TANGE the OE was suntour stem and kashi aero ,

I do belive Suntour stems were OE on the ulta burner, gold on the black one and blue on the silver one
please correct me if I'm wrong.

I had an 83 Pro Burner that had a blue suntour stem. It also had a kashimax style seat but cannot remember if this was a genuine kashimax or not

My 85 Aero pro had a black suntour stem and a kashimax with the raleigh logo on the side in silver, it did have the Kashimax sticker on the back.

i have a replica team, not tange
so do you think i should upgrade to the pro items or stick with the originals but with a twist

ie , blue SR stem and white aeroyal
or
blue suntour stem and white kashi repro.

go for it its your bike build it how you want it
i dont think any of my bikes BITD even left the shop original spec
i always haggled and upgraded parts
or changed them within a few days of getting them home :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :angrysoapbox:

PS i dont think julian taff (king of the burner resto's) as built even one to 100% original spec
(but i could be wrong  :-[ :-[)

Here are some pics 85 aero pro raleigh/kashimax seat and black suntour

I believe the raleigh/kashimax seat are really rare these days. I don't think i've ever seen one for sale

cheers guys,
the concensus on Buner forum is that the SR and aeroyal are rarer plus i like the shapes of them better as well as it being in keeping with my burner model so them it is,
the suntour and kashi repro are more accesible than the SR and aeroyal are so if  i change my mind later in the game i can always swap.
cheers!
