GT Frame, is it a Pro Freestyle Tour?
« on: August 09, 2008, 06:23 PM »
Hi folks :daumenhoch:

A while back (May07) I purchased a mid GT frame off radmember Stace, nice and minty but we were never sure what model it was.

Well after the euphoria of the MK weekend, I revisted the frame and looking on the net and I'm guessing it may be a GT Pro Freestyle Tour circa 95? The serial number is stamped on the left dropout, FS 07951173 and then a number 6) stamped a bit further on the end of the dropout. Here's a pic, ignore the forks as they're not related to the frame:

And built up quickly last summer

Any thoughts what GT model it is, based upon the serial number, or is there an archive I can search on?

Many thanks

Paul :)

I'd say you're right Paul.

Laz is that based upon the pic as a lot of the mid GT frames look very much the same (well to me anyway).

I was guessing the year of the frame based upon the serial starting 0795 (Jul95) ::).

I hope it is what I think it is.....as I'll try and get some decals if correct.

ohh, just noticed that yours does have the ad lugs,

that means your frame was manufactured in july 95 for sales in 96 meaning the catalog i sent you was correct for your frame so you need those decals :daumenhoch:

yeah it is!

i had a 95 pro freestyle tour. the 95 and 96 frames were the same, the only difference was the stickers, the main difference between the pro tour and the cheaper models, apart from the tubing was the shape of the dropouts. the pro tour look as in the pic above and the cheaper models the bottom part of the dropout cut back the opposite way.

Excellent guys, I think that's nailed it :daumenhoch:

Looking at the GT catalogue, there's also a Pro Freestyle Tour Team as well as the Pro Freestyle Tour and the frameset is used for both......wicked (but obviously better components added to the Team build).

I was trying to post a pic of the 2 variations but can't convert the pdf images :(. Anyway at least I now know it's a decent GT yeah (well in my eyes anyway).

I think the only difference with the team model was better components (3 piece?)
