WARNING FOR MAG WHEEL DYLON DYER'S - READ NOW !

Any of you that dye your own mags wheels need to act quick !

I was looking for the tins of multipurpose dye in Robert dyas - i found there was no little tins on the shelf but there were some new packets of dylon dye's - i went to ask a member of staff what the deal was ? they said they were no longer selling the MP range - i went to Woolworth's as well and they said the same thing ?

I gave a call to DYLON itself and the women told me that they are stopping selling the multipurpose range and have a new product range in a packet - but this new product will NOT dye the mag wheels !

I went back to Woolworth's and they said "that any remaining stock would be put in storage for a later date and will not be sold at a discount price to move on said item
Robert Dyas said " the end of line MP tins are not in the sale section at the moment as they were waiting for head office to re-price, but would be discounted to move on old stock"

I did find some old colours from about 2-3 years ago in the sale section - oranges / pinks / grays at a good price but so far the other colours were not on sale yet but go check as they will be going out at any time soon

so in future if you want to dye mag wheels - you will have to search eBay (price's will go up) or from site members that were quick enough to get out there !

They still do a multi purpose dye but now in a big tin and a wide range of colours ...

eeuuuuurrrgh, im off to dyas and woolies now to grab the last of it then, have loads to do. Dylon madonna blue will be selling for the same amount as dc mx1000's in a few months

Got 3 Madonna blues from the local woolies after reading this.

got some more this afternoon from Robert dyas - £1 each for blues / black / yellow - paid  50p for old colours - grays / pinks - have some more put by for later next week - going to get to a couple of more towns to find some 

the lady said they did them in big tins - but these small tins will be easyier to deal with and sell/trade

i've tried twice now to dye my blue alloy hubbed tuffs with this stuff.
and twice they came out as they went in lol.
i think i best get rom dave on the case  .

are you using MP (multipurpose) and not the standard little tins that need a fixer to take to any thing ?

you need piping hot water
a tub that can be covered to keep the heat in
a shed load of salt works best for opening up the pours
turning regularly to get a even colour as the colour sinks
and left for about 15 hours

colour depends on volume of water to how many tins you use and the time left in

always dye mags in pairs to get both the same colour shade

well this is the way i do it

I tried Woolies here in Harrogate but the cupboard was bare!

But got lucky at a material shop and a local art supplies shop. Try these kind of shops if there are any near you. Infact any shops to do with materials, sewing buttons etc, they might point you in the right direction 

PS No black dye left in Harrogate, its now all at my secret underground layer

found some in a shop in town...£1.83 for a small tin.

Now, what red is the one for tuffs??

Think there is only one red in the MP small tin range (could be wrong - i know you can get different reds in cold dye but not MP) - came out a nice red - bit like Ferrari red - used two tins - quarter water/ just covered the mags slightly over in one of those big flexible garden tubs you can get in homebase (the biggest tub they do)
cooked for about 15 hours over night
