Raliegh my arse, the only good thing about raliegh is they are british (and thats open to debate), while they were churning unrideable joke bikes like choppers, and  tomahawks and such like out in the late 70s mongoose were nailing these beasts together, the welds on my 78 motomag outshine the ones on my american built trickstar, nuff said.

RALIEGH SUCK IM SORRY  :2gunsfiring_v1:

No that is really the secret to the bike standing up Danny.  Glass under the pedal, you can see the secret better on this picture of my Pro-Lite.

I know alot of you guys don't like Burners (and some do), but to compare it with Mongoose and get people to vote...jesus, they obviously have no chance.  :LolLolLolLol:

The obvious appeal of the Burner, which has been stated before by many people, is that its a memory of your childhood. I never rode competitively (I was only 5 in 79  ;D), and as I had "no name" bike, I wanted a Burner like alot of my mates (I dare say my no name bike was just as good technically as the Burners anyway!!!).

PS. Beard is right though...what was the bike of the year???  :4_17_5:

PPS. In answer to ORB's question: "wonder how many of the members of the burner site lusted after a burner for Xmas 83?
" ...I would have settled for a Diamond Back to be honest!  ;D

Although I like Burners and Julians bike deservedly won Bike of the Year, I would say that was mostly due to it being a beautiful looking bike.

Have another competition that was based on build quality, rarity, style and desirability and it would be a completely different result.  Now I am not saying for 1 minute that a Mongoose would win, but I am sure people would vote for a VDC Changa, JMC Darryl Young, Hutch Pro Star etc over a Pro Burner.

Dont like these comps as a rule because they are normally won by a hutch or some other shit..

Was gonna enter my badlander and win on pure rarity alone.

but decided to not bother as radman needed a shot at something

a burner was my dads choice, he had the cash, no tuffs the cheap git! I got one now too though, just a fond memory, and i was chuffed as fook when i got it.  All red and yellow and heavy. I put gold dx pedals on it, funny to see which one is worth somthing after many years.

stidds...you burner lover!!!!

I must be getting mellow in my old age Dave, times were that I would say "Raleigh? Burner" in a shocked Peter Kaye "Garlic? Bread?" stylee.  But times have changed and I am getting all retro.  I will be buying a Capri soon   :daumenhoch:

Down here in Australia you got laughed at if you rode a Raleigh. Seriously.
Nuff said. Mine since 81.
