GRIPPING
« on: July 18, 2008, 11:46 PM »
Now i know oakleys fetch decent money and ame seem everywhere, my question is what where your grips of choice early eighties.

Mushrooms were always the grips for me and our kid, infact they still are now on most of my builds  :smitten:. Dunno why they just invoke great bike shop memories
alongside white Skyway T.As  :smitten:

Old school Ame grips are few and far between, the ones available now are not the same...

...Grab ons, Oakley 3 or Ame Rounds for me though :)

"Thanks for the Fish Fingers idea... I'm fooking loaded now!!!"

Ame Rounds all the way for me too...

I can always remember pulling off my old ones, clean the bar , then hairspray and apply... wait until the next morning to check if they were all set!

Well My Favorites Are Oakley F1's. I Went To MK Last Year And For All Of You Who Remember I Bought About 4 Set Of CW Bars For About £5. I Cant Remember Who Was Selling Them But I Saw A Pair With F1's On, Thought They Were Fuans, But Looked And On The Inside It Said The Usual Oakley Stuff. I Asked Him Thinking Hed Want About £20 For Bars And Grips And He Said "£2 Without Grips Or £3 With Them" And I Instantly Bought Them. Went Back To My Camper With My Dad Having A Fry Up On The Go And He Said "After Our Brekfast, I'll Wash Them Up With Washing-Up Liquid And Hot Water" And After That They Came Up Minty! I Put The Best CW's I Bought And The F1's On My Racer And Went Out Later On To Gate Practise. And Thats The Story Of How I Inherited My Legendery Grips  :LolLolLolLol:

I had a pair of them Mushy IIs.  Black inners with lavender outers.  Looked fooking lush.  Still wrecked me hands though - that'll teach me to follow Nanette Newman's advice... :(

UNI Hand grenade II's for me.

They had a metal disc in the end to stop the bars cutting through the grip,
and came with a tube of glue to stick the grips to the bar.

A close second were my oakley o-wings in aqua...  :smitten:

Mushrooms  :daumenhoch:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'
