love him or hate him, he has a lot of parts we need, and he's a business.

I for one am glad to hear he's not packing it in.

His prices are over inflated, his service is poor and he's ripped me off once and he'll NEVER do it again.

I'd rather go without!!!

He is good for all of your consumable parts like headsets, BB's etc. He hasnt got any good stuff to sell really though. He has.......but he wont sell it.

Fair play. Had a minor issue with him about selling me a Mini Uni without a shim. He said that as the picture never showed a shim it wont come with one.

I said...... would you sell me one of your seats without seat guts then as your pics dont show the guts on the seats!

He didnt know what to say......then came out with.............buy something else and i will send it to you!

Got to give it to him.

He is in it to earn a pound note and he has done well percentage wise from what he has invested in but he aint gotta clue about customer service!

I said no.

Although, I wouldn't say Alans are cheaper, I find Alans the most expensive for everything. I know Alans have been around for ages and the history etc, but you would think they might start reducing the extortionate prices at some stage.

Ive bought from him a few times with no problems at all. Last week I bought a pair of flight spindle bolts and a Tange head lock in red (well priced too). They arrived next day I think.

IMO Alans doesnt have a great amount of stock listed, and prices are always higher. Other than ebay and here, I always check www.vert-ego.com first.

Alans: not cheap, slow, awful comms, only post to card registered address.

billys: sold me a duff Hombre, once bitten. Tried emailing to explain problem. no response.
(the brass coloured bush wasn't throught the armt he right amount so when you tightened down the arm bolt it jammed it in position)

Vert-Ego: not cheap, excellent comms, fast delivery.

I guess everyone has their own faves, but if vert-ego suddenly ceased to be that's an awful lot of items no longer available.

Not really, half of it is out of stock and 95% comes from Shiners which you have access to

but i must admit i've had stuff off him

I bought a NOS Sugino opc from vert- ego a while back, when it arrived the threads where damaged & the NOS bottom bracket i had wouldn't screw on because of the damage to the threads, he agreed for me to send it back to him at my own expense & he would replace it for me.
I sent it back then received an email from him a couple of days later saying he could find nothing wrong with the crank & would offer no refund but he would replace it out of 'good will' but would not send the replacement until i paypal'd him the return postage. Which i obviously had to do or i would have ended up losing everything i'd paid for.
Oh & the NOS crank he replaced the original one for had an even worse problem with the pedal thread.

Needless to say i havn't bought another thing from him..

ripped me off selling me a dyed black kashimax aero seat , i complained and had to send back at my expense then denied for weeks that it had got back to him

forgot about some decals i bought from him - numerous emails later replied and asked for paypal number -
