Brakes - recommendations please...

I'm lookin' at the low profile dia compes and the Flys.
Why are the Fly brakes so expensive and are they worth the extra money?

Fly do work so so well, but Ive managed to get most U brakes to work well.

Cheers guys - I currently run the DC Hombres that came stock with my micromachine, but want to get something better for the next bike, so any suggestions (and reasons for!) are appreciated!

i run a fly on my blackbike and a ad990 on my holmes, tbh as alex says most u brakes will work well if dialled in properly and i dont notice much difference between the two, according to fly the reason fly brakes cost so much is down to the 6 hours it takes to cnc machine one from a block of alloy, this makes them less prone to flexing than a cast alloy brake

i also had a s&m revenge sealed bearing brake and although it was smoother due to using bearings rather than brass inserts  i found it looked cheap due to using diacompe ad parts

personally i think what type of brake blocks you use are more important than the actual brake itself, hence why i use kool stops on both my bikes

CNC'd Dia compes it is then! Almost half the price of the Flys....

What about the new demolition brakes. CNC'ed and the have bearings like the revenge ones.

I've just recently put on an Odyssey Evo II brake and it works a treat.
I am cr@p at configuring brakes and I put it on expecting to have to adjust it a bit, but first time it worked a treat. Pot luck i think....

Saying that though, most people who ride a Fly brake do say they are the best brakes they've ever used.

i use an evo 2 , it was cheap 

but its down to setup and keeping it all lubed . an old mate could get a hombre to clamp just as well as a hope disc

Dia compe all the way , ad999 box u brake , there the best and lighter than fly , and a bit cheaper , not much tho .

when i was looking for a new rear brake i found out that virtually everyone and their dog was running the fly brake!

i am now too and aint had no problems, there was a guy on ebay (softdeal direct?? or softdeal??) doing them for 45 quid

I recently did a build for a mate who's running EVOii's & they are nice & easy to set-up & work pretty good too. Personally I use Fly rear/Suelo Front

You do a full 180 and land with your front wheel right on the lip or the coping with the back wheel as high as you dare, stall it, then hop straight in - awesome trick!
You're staring right down the transition once you stall it, or for extra style points, look up and wink at the crowd...! Heehee!

Just do the usual, try it on something small and work up. Helps if you've got quick feet to save yourself though!

Aaaah......  the Canadian Nosepick.....  My nemesis....

I've done loads of em, but I couldn't say I actually 'have' them y'know?  It's still a lottery after 3 years.  Bastard things

As above, pleasurable but scary trick. I ride into 'em as if doing a normal nosepick but at take off i lock both arms pretty straight and hop a little higher, always get on the coping nicely but it feels like more luck than judgement
