will cutting through the thread with a hacksaw work or will it f up the pedal, if so is there any other way,

me i would weld the rest of the arm back on for leverage and the heat from the welder should expand the arm and help the pedal to release
needs lots of wd40 before to get the rust moving.

probably a silly question but have you stuck whats left of the crank in a vice & tried to undo it that way?

I think I need to buy a vice. I was gonna clamp it in some mole grips and attack it with a hacksaw, but it is really stuck

Yeah i think a vice would be a good idea, they do come in very handy, just make sure its attached to a very sturdy bench, i bolted one on top of a bench at my dads house & managed to destroy the bench but still didn't budge the pedal i was trying to remove

I had a similar prblem when trying to remove the cranks from my Pro-lite. I ended up hacksawing the crank like you, but still could do out with the pedals as they were well and truly stuck fast. Ended up binning them as it wasnt worth the time and effort for a used pair of Shimano SX's.

Now if they were DX's, id still be in the shed now... lol

Don't it feel good sawing those cranks after hours of torment with the pedal?

I don't think these pedals are worth much but I like them shame to chuck em in the bin but if the vice thing doesn't work I might have to

Cut through the crank diagonally across the area where the pedal axle screws in, cut round as much as poss (halfway will do) but be careful not to cut through.... Stick an old screwdriver or better still a metal chisel into the hacksaw slot and whack with a hammer.

With any luck the crank will split apart and you can release your pedal

Mig welder, run a big bead of weld round the pedal boss in the crank arm, the heat will make it very easy to take it all apart, although, I am not sure why you are bothering?

I would just bin that lot!

I think I'm only bothering with these coz I remember finding one in my garage when I was a kid probably left by one of my neighbours (older kids) fixing their bike, and I wished I had the pair, now I've found a pair and they're stuck

If you throw out the other one, you will no longer have a pair, then you will no longer feel the need to keep this one, thus you wont bother trying to free it off, urgo, you can bin the stuck one.

It's a good philosophy and could be beneficial considering the complete absence of a vice and other tools to carry out the removal of said stuck pedal , I shall bear it in mind whilst I ponder this predicament

If these pedals are hard to get hold of why not find out if the spindles are the same as kkt pedals that are available if so buy them and take this off the spindle and put it on a new one. Just throw the spindle stuck on what's left of the crank away.
