Hey Guys and Gals

i am currently in the process of bringing Derby BMX club to life again and would like to know its history for our club book. Any info would be a great help.

sorry i havent got any history for you

but i did go and have a look at how the track was progressing and it looks awesome!!!

i reckon youre doing a great job,keep it going

Lauren I have the number for Dave and Kim Verdugo who ran the club for a while,

Derby was the only track other than Rebel Force and Hillbillies both in Malvern that I ever raced on. Not a bad track either, although having it inside a dog track was a bit odd.

Si thats the greyhound stadium one (inside the old prison if I remember right?), Lauren is talking about the one at Alveston park that is being MASSIVELY revamped

yeh as for the greyhound stadium,thats got houses on it

when i was in the last few years of school i used to go most night to the local bmx track,but now its also got house on it,I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE COULD DO SUCH A THING

ooooooops i'm only one of them people who live in them houses

wish it was still there now as it would be right in my back garden

Hi

I have just been down there today on my home from school (Uni), it does look awesome i have took some pic's i will post them in a bit, got talking to the chaps building it and they say it will be ready between 3 and 6 weeks.

as for history i aint sure but i remember that they used to have big race meets and peps came from alover the country and parts of ierland so i presume they were regional or something i remember this as my parents had a small hotel and we would get booked up with peps racing and they would put all there bikes in one of our garages. all the derby hotels would be full up as we would haveten try and find rooms for peps to stay if they had not booked.

i recommend folks to go down and have a look at the track

its awesome and will be a great track when its done.

praise indeed to the foresight of lauren and her other club members for taking a track like alveston and moving it up a gear.

used to ride derby storm skatepark every friday back in the late 90's, i'm itching for an excuse to go hit the a444 from nuneaton to derby again! awesome bit of road for a play!

I have set up a facebook page for the club and have posted some pictures on it.
It is still a little hard to tell what the track looks like but will give you some idea.
