Another Pro Neck stem complete
« on: June 14, 2008, 03:05 PM »
A mini Pro Neck stem this time and I'm guessing it's quite a rare piece now ... nice too  :coolsmiley:

Here it is when I got it from a fellow Radster ... thanks John  ;)

I decided to go for the brushed finish this time and recoated the main bolt and quill. The quill bolt and wedge were also wrong so I replaced those along with all the other hardware too

Not a major resto job but I get a real buzz out of bringing this old school stuff back to life ... hope you like  :daumenhoch:

How do you get the brushed finish, it looks much better than the polished I think.

Great work again Steve

Chris ... I use a fine cherry oil stone then finish off using a kitchen 'greeny' cloth  :coolsmiley:

Nick ... that stems worth saving but you'll have to get the dents filled with alloy weld first. Don't try to polish them out or you'll end up losing the logo

Here's another stem I did a while back which was badly dented

Stunning job mate !  :daumenhoch:
Wonder though how the brushed finish will look like in a few months...
but I bet it's not aimed to be left outside on some kids bikes  :LolLolLolLol:
Original finish was clear anno'ed over brushed effect.
