s &m rat update
« on: June 10, 2008, 07:55 PM »
i took these for a couple of dudes asking how this was going,

slowly,

old spacialized road seat stripped and chopped and re-shaped, waiting for human skin to re-cover,
the tribal shit is courtesy of my neph tom, needs to be cut in next,

perry's "hammered" finish on xlt, the stem was really badly stripped and on e-bay cheap, i bought it for the titanium bolt kit so its ripe for the rat,

still needs a rub with the scotch wheel to even out the surface,
the un-hammered patches will be mirror polished and engraved

bars are off my now gone ng holmes,
seems a shame to rip off the nice white powder, any idea's?

needs cranks, any suggestions?

good idea dude, i might put them up in the trade section for swaps :daumenhoch:

ideally i'd like a profile on one side and a primo on the other ;)

when all the chopping and engraving is done it'll be buried in my garden for a few months, rust it up nice,

then i'll go over the whole frame and patch polish it again , leaving the "s&mbikes" in rust,

powder coated tt pad made from barbed wire :-\

Joe, thats looking pretty slinky  :daumenhoch:

the bars.. I would be tempted to get a load of different colours of paint (including the wheel colour for balance) and flick em, a bit stone roses albumcoveresque if you please.

Keep the updates coming, specially the cut in tribals, real close ups please  :)

Good skills  :daumenhoch:
Whats the matter Kid, don't ya like clowns? Don't we make you laugh? Aint we fukkin funny?

"ideally i'd like a profile on one side and a primo on the other "

so using a primo axle with cut in splines , nice idea . a local machine shop should be able to do it ( shefield after all  ;D ) but are axles heat treated after  :-\ alex , any idea ? . im sure andy robinson race cars would be able to do i if needed

i think big cheese make spiked rubber pads

battery acid ?

if you get a swapsies on the bars some chrome jobbies would keep in with the stem if the hammered side had the chrome removed and was left to rust while the polished side kept the chrome

im using roadie bar tape on mine  ;)

yeah , it was either them , manitous in red ( cant remember the name ) or judys  ;D but i did see a couple of boxxer forks modded to single crown  8)

its a typical early 2000s jump bike tha spooky . i can spot hope bulbs laced to d321 and the rear is a d521 . front brake is a closed pro and predates the standard 6bolt fixing . mech is xt but cant remember the year  :-[

but why have you kept the cable guide on the toptube if youve removed the mounts  :-\ to keep the option of a caliper in the future ?

edit - damn , thats soon , im skint  :( pickle your welcome to make an offer ( im after some early bombers in orange to shorten for a cruiser and those look far too clean to cut about anyway )

yeah the manitous were well expensive but no where near as strong! as for the Judys?  never a fan of Rock Shox BITD.....they were pretty much the only thing at first with the Indy and the RST Mozo Pros....but Bombers were just liek their name, Bomb proof!  give em an oil change every year and jobs a good'n!  none of that old Elastimer cr@p!   :daumenhoch:

as for buying em? well my FOX are just tto good i'm afraid  :-\

I have two sets o Profile cranks for sale - one set has a few hammer marks on the inside of the left hand arm, may be perfect for that bike Joe. i also have a few sets of Prolite chrome alloy cranks, exactly, and I mean exactly the same as Primo cranks, so let me know if you need anything cranks wise mate. Cheers!

Really lovin this Joe. I wasnt too sure at first but its really looking good. The wheels looked well out of place till I saw the car photos in the style you are going for. Now they make so much sence.

I had to look twice at the unfitted headset cup under the stem. At first I thought you had used a large Bearing as a headset spacer .... which I then thought was a nice idea.  ???

joe I have some battered primos with some bolts missing you can have if you want them :)

I was going to suggest using primos with the same hammer finish as the stem.
