the new s&m dirtbike is ready :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

www.sandmbikes.com

nice little write up about it too :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

We've been getting requests for basically the same frame for awhile now and this is it. The Dirt Bike has a 74.5 head tube, taller stand over and a 14" rear end. Built with SuperTherm tubing, this frame is light and strong. It's not available brakeless, it uses a regular seat-clamp, there aren't any holes drilled in it for lightness. This thing looks like a regular BMX frame that wasn't designed specifically for tail-whips, nose wheelies and hang fives! In other words it's a fooking Dirt Bike. Get off the World Wide Interweb and go haul ass on a Dirt Bike.

Available in classic powder-coated S&M colors Black, Yellow and Red with retro Dirt bike graphics

Like all S&M frames the Dirt Bike is proudly Made in the USA.

Top Tube Lengths: 20.5", 20.75", 21.0", 21.25"
BB Height: 11.8"
Chainstay: 14"
Head Angle: 74.5 degrees
Seat Angle: 71.0 degrees
Weight: 5 lbs give or take for TT size (don't be a weight weenie)
Dropout Slot: 14mm
990 Mounts: On seat-stays
Avail brakeless: No way
Gyro Tabs: Removable
Head Tube Type: Integrated Hiddenset
BB Type: Mid Press Fit
Integrated Seat Clamp: Not a chance

Butted/Air-hardening SuperTherm tube set
SuperTherm is a proprietary superthermophillic (heat-loving) alloy, developed in partnership with the U.S. Steel Alliance. The composition of Chromium, Molybdenum, and Vanadium with an unprecedented 217 ksi ultimate tensile strength makes this alloy actually gain strength through a metallurgical transformation in the heat-affected zone as a result of welding or brazing. SuperTherm is highly temper-resistant, resulting in an 11% increase in fatigue life and a 20% increase in impact strength over Heat-treated 4130. The increased mechanical properties of SuperTherm allow for incredibly strong, yet lightweight frame designs with that legendary feel of steel ride quality.

74.5 head angle (for stability at speed)
 14" rear end (this isn't a unicycle)
Available only with 990 mounts (so you can stop)
Made from SuperTherm Butted and Air-hardening tube set
Taller Stand Over Height (doesn't look like a scooter)
 Made in USA

a proper bmx frame imo

s&m forever :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

Thats fooking wicked! Im really happy that S&M have made a classic BMX frame with their head held high.  8)

There was world wide worry it would just be a NS bike with Dirtbike decals. I think this is a great move by S&M   :daumenhoch:

Not being sarcastic at all! I love every tune i hear on the site! Love the idea of a modern Dirtbike but think they should have had all new decals.

Yeah, maybe. Or at least used some older, more classic decals.
Word on the street is S&M are remaking loads of their old decals. They could have just used some of them.  ;D

Yup.  This will be my plunge into modern BMX.  Yes, I will finally go threadless, mid bb, and 14mm.  Time to start selling some of my mid school treasures.

Here is a photo of the new frame.

The only thing I dont like is the seat stay brake mounts. I like the brake on the chainstay, but I can see you get much better chain clearance with the brake on the top.

i'm tempted :-[

i might be wrong but wouldnt it have been a better idea to have called the "21 and "21.25 tt frames by the old "holmes" monicker :'(

"20.5 & "20.75 dirtbike
"21 & "21.25 holmes

maybe i'll just have to wait for the holmes sticker re-pops and make my own ::)

Shit, add me to the "want one" list.

Was previously torn between another black bike or a Metal bloodwolf. This has solved that one! I think. £130 in the bike fund and counting.........

I'm an S&M stockist so I'll try and find out how much I can do them for.  :daumenhoch:

they're taking pre orders now so it looks like I'll be able to get them. I'd certainly be able to beat Alan's price on these so if your after one then drop me a PM.

another good place to get one is Street Mafia BMX on USA Ebay - they do all s&m frames and are 25mins from the factory... I just got a 38 special frame, they marked it as a  warranty replacement, and it arrived within 9 days with no import duty... and all told inc shipping cost me just shy of £220. Plus a free t shirt!!! And the Dirtbikes are the same price! They are £340 at alans i think.
Go for it!
