Rob Ridge - Some very sad news
« on: May 27, 2008, 10:12 AM »
Robs girlfriend and soulmate of 13 years passed away recently due to a medical illness. Please spare a thought for Rob, and check out his tribute to her here -

i spent this weekend doing a test of personal endurance which gave me quite a while to think about some things, its amazing to think about all the things that surround you in the background that inspire you to succeed in the foreground.

a fitting tribute i think

When I opened Steve's email today titled "Bad News" I didn't know what to expect, but I didn't expect this.

Damn shame.

13 years is a long time and you (Rob) must just be destroyed.

All the best to you mate, hope to get down and meet you later in the year.

Best wishes to you and yours.
Gary

Good point, which I'll try to address here by offering sincere condolences.
It's sad to hear that life's treating a good guy this way.

Just got this from Rob -

I didn't plan it like this but almost to the minute it is four weeks on since Catherine passed away. In some ways that seems like an eternity, in other ways it seems like yesterday. In time I know things will improve and as with most aspects of life I try to remain positive and in respect to that I am so very grateful for all the thoughts, words and gestures of comfort. It really does provide feelings of worth and reminds me why I still love the sport/passtime that has shaped much of my life (and will hopefully continue to do so). I got back on my bike this Sunday just gone and felt so much better for doing so. I hope to get round to talking to everyone eventually and please pass on my regards to anyone else who may appreciate this message. Thanks to all again and hope to see you all (riding and/or having fun) soon. Rob.

We're thinking of you mate!

That's rough, man. Don't know you obviously, I'm more a lurker than a poster here at the moment, but you have my condolences.  Big time.

The most poignant and relevant post on this thread. Well said, I couldn't have thought of anything better to say.
