Gen 1 & 2 Sport V Gen 1 Freestyler
« on: May 12, 2008, 11:24 AM »
Just curious on this one really.....

....when you look on www.bmxmuseum.com and on here there seams to be a lot more Gen 1 Freestylers than Gen 1 and Gen 2 Sports. Would you say the Sport is rarer than the Freestyler even though it's probably not as desired as a Gen Freestyler.

What do you think?

The Gen 1 and Gen 2 Sport is without question a much rarer frame set  :coolsmiley:

Any excuse to put up a picture of that beauty! Mines not quite as minty as that but it's still a nice one!

Have you sold it yet Steve or are you keeping it?

I'd decided to sell mine but I'm having second thoughts now for the reason that it's rarer as I suspected.

There aren't many Gen 2 Sport in circulation now Daz and for that reason I'm definitely keeping mine  ::)

Give it some serious thought before letting it go ... I'm glad I did   :daumenhoch:

I think theres only 4 gen 1 sports known of world wide and around 6 or 7 gen 2's. There were only three gen 1 sports until recently, Jays dominguez rep, my survivor, Jaun Mattos has Dans old one, and another turned up in the states a couple of weeks ago. Think theres around 60 freestylers in collectors hands. Perhaps with the process of making three models in 84 compared with 1 model in 83, Haro made less in each production run. Thats why you see so mant revisions in one year.

Yes Gen 1 & Gen 2 Sports are much rarer than Freestylers & Masters, but they don't seem to fetch the same kind of money, I have no idea why  :-\

I need a Gen 1 Sport then my collection will be complete  :(

I personally think the 84 Master's are the nicest  :)

I'm not a Haro expert. But to me the Gen 1 Freestyler is THE Haro frame and forkset to have. It may not be as rare as the Gen 1 Sport but who cares.

Haro to me means one thing and that is Gen 1 Freestyler.

By the way all of Daves are fakes  :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

Simple question: did Bob Haro ever ride a Sport ?
Some serious guys did, but he didn't.

That's why the Gen 1 is so iconic, with the Master just behind.

Yep....totally agree, that's why I went for a Sport bitd. The Freestyler, Master and FST always felt really short to me. I've still to this day to ride a BMX that felt as good on vert or in a bowl as the Sport did, that even includes new school bikes. It just felt SO right!

I also agree that the Gen 1 is by far the most iconic freestyle F&F but it would be because it was the first F&F specifically designed for freestyle. But then again it wasn't that far off a Torker 280 was it?

I also heard a little rumour bitd that the F&F forks that Blyther used wasn't a FST but a Sport dressed up as one and minus the rear chain stay gusset because it was the latest F&F when Blyther was on Haro so it was a PR thing. How true it is I'm not sure and I've never looked at pictures close enough to decide.  :-\

I'm pretty sure that the red fst blyther used to ride was a gen 3 sport painted and decalled to loo like an fst, the guy is over 6' tall, he wouldnt be choosing an fst to air on when the sport was available
