95 spoke wheel info please...
« on: May 12, 2008, 12:18 AM »
I want some 95 spoke wheels for a build i'm doing, i'm not expecting to find any for sale so i thought i'd do them myself. from what i can remember they were usually modified peregrine 48's.
Ideally i'd like to mod some peregrines but i'm not too fussed if they're not. i do have some peregrine phat jack hubs i could use as there is plenty of room on the hub flange for another set of holes for the spokes. I need some rims though. I might be getting the rims powder coated so condition wouldn't matter if anyone has anything suitable.
does anyone know if powder coated rims would be ok for brake rub or would it mark it or take it off?

thanks for looking fellas, any info or comments on this idea would be appreciated.  joe

Not sure mate, I'd say they would at least flatten in colour on the braking area.   Although, really, they should be chrome.....  ;)

And yeah, to my knowledge all the 95s I saw were modified Peregrine superPros.    :)

I have built a couple of sets of 95's and they are a pain in the a$$ to build. I will try to get a pic of one of mine so it gives you an idea of lacing pattern.

thats not very supportive alex, your supposed to encourage and praise fellow midschool fans ;) ;D

they probably are terrible function wise but i wanted some at the time and theres a fair few pics in inverts i've got from around 92 with them on peoples bike.  plastic wheels discs were an even worse idea but i think tey look cool too. :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
