surely if these are made up from old tubing for a production run in 86' these are as good as the originals?
well worth a punt imo.

am i right in thinking skyway as a company is in the same hands as it was in the 80's?

has it been bought out or traded?

They look absolutely sperb and the 30 extra sets of forks will come in handy for certain. I hope this doesnt bring the value of the original TA's in to question, its a shame what happened to the streetbeats and streestylers, cant even get a hundred quid now for a nos streetbeat these days

That is correct.  The owners of Skyway are still the same guys that were there since day 1.
Heck... even some of the guys that run the molding machines were there running the colored Tuffs back in the late 70's!

And that one had it's serial number filed off, and the seat post tube was cut.  It was an old chrome frame that was painted white.  In other words... used and abused.

And lets not forget about the new T/A that sold for £578 a few months ago!

I got the email and put the deposit down...yeeeehaaaa. Can't wait. But I do have a question.

Kuwahero posted a great TA frame and fork review from bitd on the thread below.

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=62509.0

The review states that the forks were heat treated after welding to make them stronger. Does anyone know if the 25th Anni TAs (or AniTA as mine will be called ) will go through a similar process?

Cheers

P.

I turned my one down - but they made it quite clear that I can't let someone else take my place due to the amount of people on the waiting list.

Would loved to help out fellow radders - but can't. :(

Okay.  Not bitchin' here but...  Are you aware the forks have solid dropouts but the rear dropouts have the No. 1/lightning bolt cutout.  I think it's a great idea to utilise those leftover T/A tubesets but the dropout issue bothers me.  Why couldn't they have had matching solid drops or matching drops with the cutout.  Someone on another forum has mentioned that the brake bridge appears to be a curved one instead of the straight one you would expect on an '86 serialled T/A.  I'm not saying this project is something Dr. Frankenstein might have knocked up in his lab but a bit of consistency would have been nice.

That said, at least they can't be passed off as original 80's produced f+f's as these variations would be spotted by an OS Skyway fan  :-\

i think this is excellent that the bike is made from an '86 production line but as i asked with Kuwahara KZ-1 Rep will it be OS Race legal? i mean it came from 1986 but was never welded up...

In the mid 80's, when freestyle started taking off, many people were using their race frames for freestyle riding.
with that thought, these T/A's that were shelved until now, had "stronger" dropouts made for them.  It's still the same T/A dropout, but without the cutout.
Skyway co-owner Jon Raudman told me that by eliminating the arrow cutout in the dropout, it strengthed the dropout a bit.
Hmmmm.  Not sure if it made the dropout stronger, but that's what they did anyway...
