Good frame for tall riders?
« on: May 07, 2008, 03:22 PM »
As the sun is shining I want to build a quick, cheap, NS ride for messing about on...

Just looking at the clearance frames whats a good cheapish frame (sub Ł120) for somebody around 6ft 2"

I few I found straight off (on the first web site I tried) but open to any advice.....

Proper Proclaimer Frame (2005) 21.2 TT

United Squad Frame (Summer 2007) 21.25 TT

Fly Pantera 2 Frame (2007) 21.4 TT

I don't know too much about the United frame, but the Proper Proclaimer is a superb frame, although that one is an older version. Still an good frame.  The Fly Pantera 2 is also a good choice.

I'd personally go for the Proclaimer.  But then again I would say that.  :daumenhoch:

all those will do the job :daumenhoch:

theres the macneil deucedeuce too but thats a "22tt, i personally felt it was too long,
i'm sure T1 make there hickerson moody frame in "21.25,
the new fit inman/foster frame might be worth checking out too,

i'm '6"3 and riding a "21.5tt s&m xl-laf ;)
the frames 75 degree headtube angle keeps the frame from feeling overly long,

this is definitely worth a gander :daumenhoch:

Thanks everybody, I did see the Colony before I added my post to be honest I just think I need something either 21” or above….

I really fancy a Proper Proclaimer in raw clear coat but having a bit a trouble tracking one down (and I think they only make it in 20.8” but that’s close enough when it looks this cool)

I have one of those sitting here in 20.8". PM me if you're interested.
They've now stopped making them, so if any of the shops don't have them now, they never will.

Mr Grapefruit. Dont get the 2005 Proclaimer. Seatangle is 68, 69  degrees (not 71) so a 21.2" feels like a 20.8". and  headangle is 73.5, nice and slack so not so wobbly. But still short up top.

Cheers seanrx,

I'm just going to have a quick look at the frame mentioned on ebay tonight, failing that I think I going for the Raw 2007 Proclaimer mentioned above.

I just hope it does not feel to short at 20.8  :-[

I for one still don't get the top tube size thing... I know a lot of people say you can tell the difference, but I can't.

have a look at 0.2" on a ruler. I still can't see how such a small amount can make such a difference. But that's just me.
Obviously it does make a difference, otherwise they wouldn't bother doing it. But I can't tell the difference.

Anyway I’ve just won a 21” 2007 Mutiny Sinister Frame (and BB) in raw for £50 on ebay!!

Seems pretty cheap to me? Not sure if it’s the brakeless frame or not as I cannot get on ebay from work?

I just put a bid on expecting to get gazumped but it won…..
