TIM MARCH AND THE MRD PROTOTYPE
« on: May 06, 2008, 04:14 PM »
Right, here's Tim and the first ever MRD prototype made by Birmingham Wheels in 1982.

Tim is thinking about auctioning this off for the Stephen Murray fund, do you think it will fetch more covered in rust or refinished in white with new stickers?

Leave it as is, supply a new decal set so the buyer decides.

And out of interest why the bitching at Tim?

When I got back into BMX a few people slated him because of his views on OS bmx.
I met him again at the DC bash last year, he recognised me straight away after 20+ years!!!

When I spoke to him about his views, they was a lot different to the rumours floating about, basically he has the same view as me, that bikes should be ridden.

Behind AR, Tim was a huge influence on the early days of BMX, so show him a bit of respect

Leave it as it is let the buyer decide wether to paint it or not.

It's a piece of History you paint it, it's just another restored Frame.

Ratty, Tim has a very weird sense of humour and loves a wind up, he's a good guy, a lot of his quotes/misquotes are probably said just to get a reaction. He loves seeing all the old sh1t i have and has a lazer sharp memory on OS stuff and th history of it all.

Love the pic ! .................................

I'm leaning towards the "leave as is" but deffo supply new decal set .

BUT .................

Would it raise more money refinished/decalled ? , perhaps the auction winner would'nt be one of the usual suspects/collectors ? .

The memory I can vouch for Clive, He recognised me straight away. I just feel that the slating he gets sometimes is out of order.  :daumenhoch:

As a few others have said, leave as is, supply a set of decals and let the winner/buyer decide  :daumenhoch:.
