Mongoose ID needed
« on: April 29, 2008, 09:59 PM »
Another frame and fork setup I'm hoping to get powdered this month...

This was my first BMX, and I got it in December 1983 for christmas. It was painted red with red tuffs and was bought 2nd hand from the local paper.

I'll be building it up with the parts I have available here, but can anybody tell me from the serial number, etc. what model it might originally have been? All I know is that from the CH, it's from Chatsworth.

I'm putting a set of repro motomag stickers on it that I got from Bill over at vintage.

Pics:

Thanks in advance,

Brian  :daumenhoch:

Thanks for the info Kev  :daumenhoch:

Yeah I didn't know at the time, but my dad told me a few years later that it had turned out pretty expensive but he took a gamble on it and hoped he'd not see it lying in the shed after a few months... 25years later and I'm still hooked, lol.

Yeah Phil, think I'll take it back to the first colour it was... something about the black frame and metallic purple forks just isn't doing it for me anymore... ;)

Brian.

Got round to it on Friday morning!

All stickered up and ready to build, maybe...

Cheers Rhys,
I did think of doing it yellow, as I had it yellow at one stage back when I rode it, but got drawn towards the red as it was red when it first arrived.
The forks were originally like a flat chrome / nickel colour, but the finish wasn't too hot.

Thanks for the comments guys, and those geese in the other pics also look real nice.  :smitten:

I wasn't planning on building this, as I didn't think I'd have the room or the gear, but I've been able to dig out a few bits here, so who knows...

Probably take me ages to get round to it tho ;)
