I've just back from powder coaters to get one of these (pic) done, he ran out of 1018 and was trying to scrounge for me a couple of kg from other coaters to go without me buying a whole box. He couldn't get any, we went through the ral charts and he had 1021 on  a bit of pipe lying around. Now I've always been convinced that the shade should slightly be a bit richer and 1018 was a bit acidic, but many of you have sworn otherwise. Is it possible that performer colours were a bit more of a pastel shade than the race bikes? And if you look at the yellow on any decals they are very near 1021. So would the decals be a good reference of a correct shade or has the decal colour got nothing to do with the price of sausages and was always a contrasting shade? I know it's been argued to death this subject but I'm not convinced 1018 is the 100% correct answer to all things GT yellow. If I do buy a box I'll have 9 2kg batches of the powder for sale.

Pete Quad has just been over and we have just had this conversation. I am getting Dan (SBD) to do 3 f+f on Thursday in RAL 1018 zinc yellow so i hope it is correct.

Pete is adamant that the correct yellow is 1018 on a performer. He also said that they look much better painted in a richer yellow as they compliment the yellow parts better. Sometimes the f+f look too pastel and the parts too yellow.

Who ACTUALLY knows what colour it is.....i dont but i need to quick!!!

I've just taken these pics with all the important elements together to compare.....the metal tubing next to the performer is 1021. Now compared to the tuffs it's a pretty near match, same with the decals. And a bit of gold Dia Compe anno thrown in so you can see what works with what....I'm going to give 1021 a whirl with the team series.....btw, that massive sprocket looks shit, anyone got 16T I'm sure that's 18....

I had mine done by SBD in the brighter yellow. It is bright, but but I actually prefer it...espcially as I have blue components on mine. The photo actually makes the colours look more saturated than they are - tuffs aren't nearly as blue as they appear
