bad day when a crank arm lets go >:(
esp at the pedal end, lots of force going down,
narsty,

in my 20 or so years of riding hers a few i've seen break,

redline flights
profiles
primo's
odyssey's
fly's
rnc's
s&m alberts
sugino flights
gt power series
demolition spines
fits
dk's
hutch's
all mtb cranks ;)

they'll all break at some point eh? :LolLolLolLol:

I note a lack of 1 piece cranks in that list Joe, I've found they bend rather than break  ;)

Are you sure? That cant be right?  :2funny: ;D

I agree with Joe, everything will break in the end. Thinking it wouldnt was what led us to the very heavy bikes of the 90s. Sure, if something is often snapping from light riding then thats a bad thing, but if something fails a few times its not fair to right it off altogether. It might have just been pushed that bit too far.

Nah, they break too.

What amuses me is when people break a crank doing something small and think it's useless, while completely forgetting all the previous impacts that it's survived. Stress is a cumulative effect and sometimes the small impact is the straw that breaks the camels back.

Isn't there a snapped Primo arm somewhere in the debris at the back of Charlton ramp?

yep, i've snapped two pairs of Fly cranks. One at Charlton and one on the vert ramp at Creation. Got away with it both times fairly unscathed.

I reckon Bestwicks breathing a sigh of relief as it happens.....

Imagine the slam he would have had if that crank arm had snapped on his final crank, just as he dropped in.......

And yeah, everything breaks. I do seem to be hearing of a lot of wombolts letting go though  ???

As for people laughing on that vid clip - I chuckled.... it does look kinda funny....  :-[ ;D

Yep....everything breaks at some point!

I've seen all sorts give way and snapped a couple myself but is it any wonder given the battering they take over time! As has previously been said most of the breakages occur do to continues stress, very rarely is it just a one off thing unless it's been dropped of a roof or summat.

I just accept it, it's the same with frames, wheels, pedals etc. they will all break if battered enough.

On a plus note though he was very lucky, it could have been much worse.

By the way, to all you new school riders, note Jamie's seat position, his seat aint slammed and he can still manage to ride it. And he's not bad at either  ;D

Ive heard of a few wombolts snapping and have stopped using mine just in case, a lot went at the area around the wedge cluster due to incorrect fitting and the v2's are out and have been for a while. They are guarenteed for life though!!
fly are supposed to have strenghtened theirs after the quick release pedal problems that you have seen in the vid.

yawn yawn yawn

EVERY bike part can break

EVERY car can break

pretty much everything on this planet can break

EXPECIALLY those of which that are MASS PRODUCED

cranks, frames, stems... if you made 2000 of each i bet my soul that u will have some with defects

i know a guy whos heavy as fook, so sketchy, but hes had the same set of profile cranks for 8 years

i also know people who have snapped profiles within 2 weeks.

Bestwick is sponsored by odyssey... chances are he runs odyssey wombolt cranks

ive run them, there good... dont let bestwicks crash stop you from riding them

if anything, learn something from the video

DONT DO 15 FOOT HIGH DOUBLE WHIP AIRS ON A VERT RAMP
