new school, it evolved from old school, via mid school.

but more importantly what will the next era be called?

old school for posing, new school for playing.  :daumenhoch: (just my opinion)

I used to love the old school look but now I think new school looks better due to modern design. But if Tuff II's were as  light, rigid and strong as a new wheel I would have a set  on my GT asap. :) I now just appreciate old school for what it was bitd.

Bikes are for riding, not looking at. Collect old bikes by all means but ride them (well most, incase if you have uber collectable highly shite build quality rareties) , its what they were intended for  :daumenhoch:

For riding I can say both O/S and new, as I ride both  :daumenhoch:

I love Old School for the memories.

I love Mid School for the bit I missed.

I love New School for the purity of design & function.

It's all BMX. It's all great.

i guess this kind of post is always going to get the same old responses....but i thought exactly the same way as above but that was until i got a NS ride and actually learnt to love them!
no one will argue that OS was where it all started and the bikes (not all of them) look gorgeous with diferent lines and querky frame styles and we all love those..........but if you actually look (and i mean really look) at the quality new school bikes they are all very diferent in very small ways, yes they pretty much all share the same geometry but this is because it is now just right and been honed over many years.  take the Old Fools for instance......you look at the pictures from that weekender and tell me that those new school bikes don't look great!
take my proper for instance.....it's a raw frame and has red annodised stem and chainwheel (sprocket) white seat, bars and brakes.......so this 'all new school bikes are the same' is rubbish in my oppinion.

i love the O/S bikes, its where i started,

i cant help but look at the O/S bikes in the same light as old ,collectable toys,

nice to look at, but not serious bikes :daumenhoch:

i actually feel a bit sorry for the muppet's still chanting out the same old "N/S bikes are boring and all look the same"

ffs are you fooking thick or what?

they only look the same because you dont have a clue what you're looking at :LolLolLolLol:

if anything i'm a bigger fan of the mid-school :daumenhoch:

it was a great time, we'd gotten rid of all the hangers-on, posers and fooktards, it was just about having a good time ;)

i just love bmx tbh ;)

"hate" the new-school?  :LolLolLolLol:

fook off out of BMX, you've no place in it :daumenhoch:

Sensitive as always Joe.  ;)

I gotta agree to the points though. There are some beautiful new school bikes and, most of all, new school parts - and to ride they are leagues ahead of where we were BITD. For me, I love the simplicity of the lines on new school - three decades of honing the perfect geometry result in something very pure, functional, strong and ultimately very beautiful.

But, everyone is entilled to their opinion - I didn't like new school when I first got back into the sport, as I was used to old school. But once I did get into it, I never turned back and you soon see the differences between the bikes.

I suspect that new school bmx'ers looking back at the old bikes think they all look the same - all pads, gay colours and numberplates. But they are great to us because we lived and breathed them.

Hey, oh. Horses for courses. It's all bmx, love it.

i know i shoot from the hip a bit sometimes :-[

its the level of resentment towards the new-school on this forum thats always appalled me,

i get the feeling from some of the members on here that they are essentially jealous of the young riders and latest styles,

like it pisses them off seeing people still riding and enjoying what they themselves no longer have the courage or ability to do,

its actually very sad isnt it? like some old guy sat there grumbling about "how things used to be"

lets be totally honest here eh? saying that one era of bikes looks better than another is a complete fooking nonsense really isnt it?

a red bike then is a red bike now,

a pair off wheels then is a pair of wheels now,

etc,etc,

ffs the whole reason we love these little bikes is that the have TWENTY INCH WHEELS!!!

so whats changed?  even the fooking "double-diamond" frame design is still there!

its all the same bag of bones anyway!

fair enpough if you like to sit reminiscing and w@nking off over some over-priced kiddies toys but ffs at least have the boll0cks to get out and enjoy riding a proper bike :daumenhoch:

I think the problem ,is that most nuschool bikes these days get there paint removed, the seat slamed, so they start to look the same, BUT, they arnt, i love my nuschool bike, and cant afford the OS bikes these days, plus i wont a bike i can ride and enjoy, its all bmx ,old mid ,and new, i know this is a OS site, but opinions are opinions, if anything bikes have improved alot, as tricks are much more abusive these days, its all evolution, mid freestyle bikes got heavy and over built, to take the bag of tricks of the time, now there much lighter, but still strong, so all is good, i love the low saddle low slung look of today, but i set my bike up as i like it, plus for how i use it,   :daumenhoch:  this subject always courses rucks, i dont know why, we all love bmx, final  :4_17_5:

I think this is a minority Joe - a great deal of members on this site are active riders and appreciate all things BMX.

fair enpough if you like to sit reminiscing and w@nking off over some over-priced kiddies toys but ffs at least have the boll0cks to get out and enjoy riding a proper bike :daumenhoch:

As you know mate, I've recently had to give up riding all together due to health problems - the same as many other people on here. So, there may well be hidden reasons as to why people don't ride - so don't judge too hard. But when I did ride, it was new-school all the way.

But, now I look to restoration and collection as part of staying in the sport. So, it's a good job I can still wank, eh?
