REDLINE???? CRANK????
« on: April 27, 2008, 07:53 PM »
At MK last year my mate bought a cheap redline (may be a copy) crank,i have just fitted it to his hutch pro racer, and tried to fit the pedals but the tread in the crank arms is much bigger than the pedal spindals??? i have tried pedals for a one peice and for a three peice crank but they are no where near.Has any one else had this problem.I have not done anything with new school bikes so i dont know if new pedals have different threads.Any help please boys and girls cheers.

i could be wrong here but pedals have two thread sizes and i think you need a set with the smaller thread size. I think the larger is 9/16th's?? and the smaller I cant remember the size ....it used to be a problem if you wanted to fit dx flatties on your mtb which ran on 9/16ths.

I think most pedals are available now in both thread sizes so getting a different set should sort it....

Please feel free to correct me and call me a nob if I am wrong :D

Guy, might be useful to post up a couple of pics with the pedals and the bosses on the cranks so we can see.  I don't recall there ever being more than two sizes 1/2 inch and 9/16 inch.  CW did use 1/2 inch on their three piece cranks but generally it's a 9/16 inch on three piece cranks and 1/2 on one piece.

Marty  :)
