hi can anyone tell me how to get a freewheel off without the special tool, I'm trying a hammer and metal bar at the moment not havin any luck,

It's difficult without the tool. Hammering is likely to make a mess of it. An air chisel is a good method.

ah well was just trying to be lazy not going to halfords for the tool, thanks for the advice

I did have a new freewheel to put on but it rattles a lot when you shake it, I don't remember having one like that before, it's a dicta. so I decided to take one off an old wheel I have. Do they tend to rattle when new?
