in relation to 'how will S&M respond' i have to fully admit that they got there first and it is standard that is responding. my LTF was the most beautiful frame i have ever seen but my heart didn't belong! i can now buy something equally as beautiful (if not more) from the company i've had a love affair with for 12 years
I've got a long way to go before I can be held in such esteem as S&M and Standard though.
mike your frames are sweet very nice and look and from what ive been told a must have frame setif i did race i would be having one that is a definite, all along the lines of a standard this is one of the first new standards out of the states, picked it up from james hitchcox for a mate jay mills "hardcore hobbies" a story now belongs with this as i gave gary forsyths good lady a lift back from rom at the old fools roads trip, i had to do a quick unload to get her in the truck ,so i unloaded the box out to get my bike in the back and then drove off ,stopped at the gate to pick up alex and steve wilson then walked up to me saying "do you want this" handing me the box i had left up against the fence thanks steve i owe you one.
I was really looking forward to seeing the new standard stuff. I love any quality made bike parts and there is no doubt that standard have that special 'something' to make them more than just another bike company. Havin said that, Im not to sure about the new stuff, esp those forks. Sure, they look good but would you wanna ride them hard? There aint much metal left on um
i am ledto believe there is a new heat treating process coming to the surface that is now enabling super light frames to be built but still maintaining plenty of strength, unlike the wafer thin frames of the norm at the moment, these new frames are still being made with thin tubing but heat treated better to give more integral strength. hopefully be finding out more on this process at the end of the week (fingers crossed). to buy the patents for this process isn't cheap either and only a handful of companies will be using it. hence a 4lb street/ramp frame like ricks!more news soon......... but not from standard!!!i'll keep you all posted
