ASHAMED and so should you be.........
« on: April 21, 2008, 10:21 AM »
so what did you get up to at the weekend?  nothing?  yep well same here other than shopping on saturday........so after speaking with Nick (Gashead) this morning i found out that Dans show and shine BBQ get together was only attended by 10 people!  and only Nick took bikes along for the show and shine.

now i know the weather wasn't great and there were some racing going at the weekend but if i think about it, i really could've dragged my sorry bone idle arse there and enjoyed myself rather than sitting on it all day and playing Mario Kart with the Mrs.

I feel quite ashamed of myself and out of over 4000 members only 10 turned up...........p*ss poor!!!   :-[

TBH we was thinking of going but had to go daggers sunday as we're both committee members, otherwise we'd have been there :daumenhoch: plus it was our only free Saturday before the baby's due so the nursery had to get decorated at some point  :-\

I'm more gutted than ashamed as I was 100% going but on Thursday I found out i'm being made redundant so my mind was elsewhere.

I guess the Issue is that people want events and ask for them , yet when one is organised no one turns up
It was free
it was fairly positioned
and was put up on the forum with  months to go

tbo i dont know what else we can do to make people come , maybe the site is full of bedroom collectors who dont want to show off the bikes and socialise with others who do the same
but tbo other hobbys of the same type of thing have 100s of events a year and all of them at least have some people turn up, it was great to see the people who did turn up but i did feel for the few who made an effort only to find an empty field

yes we can all say we had other things to do ,and tbo lots will have good reasons not to come , but 10 of us ffs

yes i was ashamed of you all, and it has made me less likely to bother in the future, but i guess that dosent matter as no one would turn up anyway

The question should be asked who said they were attending and didn't, if the number of attandees was seen as to low to run the event it should have been re scheduled or scrapped, clearly enough said yes for it to go ahead..................its those members who said they would but didn't turn up that should be ashamed

just my view

If people said they were going to attend then they should do it unless something very important changes that.

I personally would have loved to go, but considering I work 12 hour nightshifts on a weekend & I also work as a Driving Instructor in my spare time (which means I currently work 18 hours a day), this means that I can only attend when I take holiday from both of my jobs.

:'( I`m also gutted.I don`t drive, and couldn`t get childcare for the weekend(I did try).Don`t be too disheartened,I`m sure future attendance will be better if you decide to try again.Maybe Moley or Madd Dogg could get involved ? The enthusiasm of these 2 is amazing, both of them were trying to convince everyone to attend Coppull yesterday and Moley, though new to the site has really pushed the Novice bash at Creation next month.Sure the turnout was appalling, but no doubt those that did attend(even some that didn`t) appreciated  the effort made to do something good for RAD members.

Purely a date clash for me, Playing on british disc golf tour.
Hope it does not effect future plans from Dan and others to run an event.

it is a very poor show.
trying to organise events myself, i know how hard it is to get some of these people away from their keyboards. you do sometimes think why do you bother...

maybe the weather affected the numbers for this?

i knew i couldn't make it, so never put my name down, but those that did and never showed should be ashamed of themselves.
i did however get to see the toon whip some sad mackem b@stard ass...  ;D

i agree that if you need an event to happen, get moley on board.

I'm not going to dig anyone out about this weekend, but I will say that the weather wouldn't have born any relevance really. Dan had sorted out a little cozy function room in the pub where we all could have hung out, the pub did some good grub and was quiet enough that a few dozen of us could have piled in there.

There are worse ways to spend a Saturday night...

Shame really :-[

I've heard it many a time before peeps trying to organise things and getting low numbers which leads me to say that I'm having a first try at organising a one day summer meet either June or July  :crazy2: for a free, chilled out, enjoy the sunshine and bikes kinda thing. To be honest I'm not expecting large numbers to be honest and can understand either the weather, location or even me!! could put peeps off, but hey ho I'm gonna give it a try anyway.

Paul - See if you can avoid a date clash and keep it simple.  These things do usually turn out ok.  Hell I might even be back on my bike by then!   :daumenhoch:

I must confess I never even noticed the post for this event.

Sorry.

I couldn't had made it anyway as Saturday night I had to get my Tux on and attend a charity ball that the company
had booked a table at for the management, so I couldn't have made it.

it is a shame that only ten people made it though, weather probably didn't help.

TBH i feel a bit insulted, as someone else has said if attendance looked like it was going to be poor then surely it makes more sense to postpone.

We're stuck in the middle of a fookin heavy racing schedule and have only 3 free sundays from April 1st to the end of October, saturdays are taken mostly by the rota for Daggers training sessions, Tony works fookin long hours and at some point we've got to fit in having a baby and spending some time with Tonys kids and extended family.... whilst we'd love to have gone it just weren't gonna happen timewise and everyone has the same problem.

Some of the peeps on here are lucky to have supportive partners who don't mind their respective others going off BMXing but others are not so lucky and have to work fookin hard to persuade em to give a pass just for MK bash.

With these smaller events if their isn't support then dont run em, simple, i'm sure peeps will moan but you cant please all the people all of the time.

Also as JT said, i did't see a deluge of publicity on this event, certainly nothing like the MK bash gets and this may be part of the reason for poor support.

I've said before and i'll say again that in publishing either site goods for sale or site events the site needs to send regular Global PM's to ensure it reaches a maximum audience, but hey that fell on deaf ears too ::)

Like a lamb to the slaughter i'll finish typing and go put my hard hat on for a Rad bashing now  :-\

I have a suggestion, maybe we could ditcht he shout box and replace it with a rolling banner for the events.

not the racing ones, as the racers already know about those, but things like the novice night and this one that's just gone would be ideal. and everyone would see it.
