Where's Gossa?

Hey Clive, hope you're not feeling too battered and bruised after your slam in the 25+ final at Cheddar yesterday.

I was up on the gate waiting for my 40+ cruiser final when it happened, then I had to run back up for my 16+ MTB final, so by the time I'd finished you'd gone.

Anyway, you were looking good out there, factory jackson as ever, but also smooth and jumping stuff straight away.  Hope the PK and helmet didn't get too scuffed.

hope your ok mate, Joycey said you were feeling it by the time you got home, I saw it happening think it was a wind and hitting that double a trifle quicker than earlier in the day combination..

two words i wish id learnt having thrown a chain, causing me to bounce from on my head onto my shoulder, on my first ever come back race..."body armour"

Other than the crash, you've gotta be happy with that comeback race, Clive.  Definitely still got some skills and more to show once you've blown off all the cobwebs.

Like Jon said, yesterday wasn't ideal for jumping stuff as the wind was pretty strong and seemed to be coming from different directions.  So fair play to you for having a go.

Hope it's not windy for the national next weekend.

Alright flem, calm down.....

Well as you can see from the picture below, my comeback (first race in about 14 years) didn't go quite to plan! This crash over the double in teh second straight left me picking gravel out of my teeth and being a bit sad that it took me so long to restore this helmet and so quick to ruin the work!  Still, I feel very lucky as poor Daz O neill ended up in hospital with a mashed hand (get well soon mate).

Thanks Mike for noticing i haven't completly lost it, lets face it though, needs some work eh?

Always the same mate in every sport. I was never the same footballer after jacking it in for 3 years.

It hurts to remember how good you where when you were younger and how age has now caught up with you. :'( (not refereing to you mate).

Try golf instead! :D

Clive, glad you are back into it, and even more glad you aint badly hurt.
Look forward to seeing you on the track ..... seeing the BACK of you!

If you ask me, that helmet looks much better now.
(do you remember the scene from the first S&M video when Moeller is taking through all the marks on his helmet?).

Just needs some fine tuning.  I reckon by the end of the season you'll be flying again.  Only negative thing from Cheddar was your crash.  Lots of positives to be taken home (i.e. you were jumping stuff and in the mix, 2-2-2 in motos wasn't it?)

This is my third season back and my riding still borders on the horrible.

Cruiser would have been an easy option, i can still jump my cruiser really well as it feels like my mountain bikes but when i got back on a 20" a couple of months ago, i could hardly ride it, looping out all over the place so i've only just started getting the hang of a 20" again. Anyone that knows me knows i always do it the hard way!

Mike, don't worry mate, you're dialled!

It'll come back.  Like you say, it's your first race in 14 years.  Are you still racing the national this weekend?

When I had my first comeback race in 1991 I ended up unconscious in Alvaston bombhole with 4 teeth missing, a couple of cracked ribs and a broken bone in my right hand  :uglystupid2:

Don't get a new helmet! It looks ace with battle scars. I'd say it looks like a real veteran's piece of kit now... and don't try and paint over them either. Think of them as cool tattoos that all your mates will dig...  :daumenhoch:

Hey Clive great to see you at chedder , and riding well , its hard coming back after so long and admitting that we cant ride like we use to . But we all say we are just doing it for fun , but if we were truthful we still want to win . Keep riding and see if you can get results to match your factory look . . A legend to the sport .
                                                                              All the best Tony .

Dont lose heart Clive, all the speed & skills you had are still in the bank, you just have to withdraw them from the bank slowly, take a whole season getting there, & dont worry about getting beaten  for a while, it'll give a few people a buzz saying "i beat Clive Gosling".

But when your'e back up to speed you'll be back up there winning races for sure which feels as good when your older as it did BITD!!!!!!!!  ;) ;) ;)

Cheers guys, if the truth be known, I was never that competitive, not nearly as much as people think! I used to get as much of a buzz from jumping on the track after the last final as winning!

Keith Duly just sent me a text, he just ordered a new cruiser, I told him not to be so gay and get a twenty!

See you guys at Chedder, hopefully my aches and pains will have subsided so i can go gate practice at bomo tomorrow night!

man it hurts, I slammed jumping a reasonable set of doubles flat out (for me, about as quick as most clipped in 12 year olds!)

I haven't hurt like this for years! But i'm racing the national this weekend so more pain to come!

Matt, you have to change the date for MK, Keith Duly is getting married on the 1st!!!! :LolLolLolLol:

Well done Clive, get some body armour untill your back in to the swing of things, I think I wore mine for a whole year before I felt comfortable without it  ::)

BTW this is what happened to my graphites :

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'
