Dicta freewheels + other Q's...
«

Are they that bad ??
Just picked one up as a last resort but fear it might not be worth it... doesn't look great quality.
Same as this...
http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php?cPath=116_120&products_id=3061
And would 43-17 ratio be o.k. ??
... lastly ... if I do buy another... shimano or suntour ??
cheers

Dictas aren`t know for being too good. Then again ACS can be just as bad.Suntour or Shimano are probably your best bet if you want reliability.

Dictas are ok, but ACS and suntour are better, 43 17 is too low, much better 43/44 16

Cheers chaps... I think I'll go suntour 1st choice and then shimano... at 43-16, which is what I was running before.
Anyone know where I could get either of these ??
thanks

Every Shimano freewheel I have used has blown up, they are crap. The Chrome ACS freewheels are pretty poor quality, but the ACS Claws (black/bronze colour) are cool... of course genuine Suntour are very good

Well I just bought a shimano 16T freewheel before reading your posts... ah well, always the dicta to fall back on.
I have had a shimano break on me too, but at the mo the suntour is the one I'm needing to replace... so it's 1-1 in my books.
Guess it's down to personal experience... as long as I don't doo my knackers in that's the main thing lol.
Just for general cruising mainly so I think the shimano will be adequote enough for me.
thanks again for the advice... much appreciated.
Could I have used this 3 notch beast ?? Seems like a very good price if I could.

right guys here is the doggs low down on free wheels
dicta 1st------these aint too bad and i personally think the new 2 tone 1s are better than shimano and suntour which like to just disintagrate under pressure
shimano/suntour----both crap both let you down waist of money
acs claws-----these for the money are as good as ya goona get,,but be warned 2 have let go on me once up a hill pdalin hard on me cruiser ,,lucky i did not hurt me self and 2nd just balancin on the gate,,crunch it went
now if you have £60 get a whit industries neo freewheeel ,,all sealed bearings all cro--mo body and outer and beat of all they have as many conacts as a profile cassett e hub
there ya go get a white and it will outlast 10 or more other freewheels
thanks for your attention ,,,now go buy a white
