Found this old NW NBMXA newletter
See Bof was still the man back then..
KD racing was known locally as "bikers" anyone around blackburn/darwen will remember that bike shop.

Keith and Dennis of KD racing did a hell of alot for promoting BMX locally

They were great for the sport locally  :4_17_5:

I bought a bike from them

plus I loved going over to Bolton BMX center ( later MK cycles )

both shops were full of treasure  :smitten:

Ahh, the memories...I've still got the K.D Racing sticker on my bike. It's amazing how many of the names on that result sheet are still involved in N.W BMX racing.
Brian Beverage was a top lad and fast as f**k. His dad was the local Cheif Constable which was probably why we got very little hassle at the local 'park' on the top of Sough Tunnel. My favourite Bri moment was when he turned up at the Sough with the latest Adidas Sambas and Lee jeans which he'd cut at the bottom up the seam to flap over the trainers. ( at the time this looked so cool). In fact,  everyone was so p*ssed off at how cool he looked the older lads (Bof , Grimmy, Kingy) decided to jump him as soon as he came off his bike. There was a scuffle and a loud tearing noise ...and the sight of Brian calmly riding away on his Ripper with the two legs of his jeans split up to his thighs still tickles me to this day. The Robinson Crusoe look never caught on!
While we're on the subject of Darwen /Blackburn riders, me and Bof were trying to remember the real name of the lad who everyone called 'The Peasent of Ivinson', we know that he lived on Ivinson Road, rode a Pirahna and was a peasent, but beyond that we're struggling....any takers for this weeks local quiz for local people?

Paul McCleod

had a Pirhana and seemed to tag along to Grimmy as he lived near him
a few doors down from Brian on Moor close

But there was someone else who went to Moorland high and lived on James' estate called 'Pete pez'
If you did a BIG greeny gob on the school desk you could get Pete pez to lick it all up
Very true  :buck2:

Don't think he had a BMX though

BTW Jamie
You went to QUEGS

and yet you don't know i before e except after c
but except in this case' Chief '
 :-X

I'll take me crack ont back o' thead when I see thi  Sunday  :-*

..easy on me Chris I've got jet-lag! Bri Beverage went to QEGS (as it's correctly spelt!) as well and was cock o't school until he got expelled in the 5th form. Last I heard he actually turned out to be gay and was a hairdresser/ dancer as you say. But if you're out there Brian and these things aren't true then it's Chris who said them and not me. He also goes round saying he could have you in a scrap any day- 'you and who's army' were his actual words...

Debra Madely (senior girls) was the daughter of the owner of Skidmores.  I got my Lasrlite from there...my dad would sit in there every saturday whilst my mum shopped...would be in there for hours...I got Debra's old Kuwie kit when she stopped racing.

Mr Leary, the Dubber's back passage may well resemble a wizard's sleeve, but thats through the pounding his arse receives as he attempts rhythm sections in his brave and unique style. As for not turning up at Leo's carpets, bollocks. I went there last year and after a free measure service, me and the missus now have a lovely deep Axminster shag in the bedroom.
