The UNIVERSITY of BMX and ATTRACTIEPARK SLAGHAREN organization of the “International Old Skool of BMX Reunion & Celebration of 30 years of BMX in Holland and therefore in Europe.

Dear friends in BMX, Old Skool BMX riders and officials,
30 years ago last month March, I introduced the sport of BMX during an International Moto-Cross event at the “Euro-circuit” in Valkenswaard – Holland. About 8 months later, to be precise October 20th 1978 we formed the Stichting Fietscross Nederland (S.F.N.) and BMX became then an official sport.
We cordially invite Old Skool BMX riders from the period 1978 till 1994 to celebrate the 30 years of existence of the sport of BMX. We will come together and socialize at the location were in 1983 the first outside-USA BMX World Championships took place in Holland at
ATTRACTIEPARK SLAGHAREN (at that time called PONYPARK Slagharen).
At this venue, several years after this Worlds, special designed and prepared BMX TV events were broadcasted Nation wide and among others a European Championship took place as well as 10 European Challenge Cup events, probably well remembered by most of you all.
Besides O.S. riders, also former officials are more then welcome and of course those interested fans/supporters from back then are welcome as well to have a great weekend at the amusement park, socializing, talking history and meeting old friends probably after many years.
This unique weekend will take place from Friday 3rd till Sunday October 5th 2008. Most of the Old Skool BMX riders do have families themselves now and together with their children these young families can have a great team. There is no better place to have this Reunion and Celebration then at Attractiepark Slagharen.
Wouldn’t it be nice to meet old friends, former competitors and talk about the early days of the sport? Show your children how this sport started out and explaining what their parents mend in the developing of the sport. Besides that, the children can have a great time at the
Amusement park itself.
Just like the old days, a special section of the cottage area has been reserved specially for this happening. Like in the early days, a BMX village will be formed and this is not only at the park itself, but also on the camping-site. The camping-site was a favourite place for many National and International riders and their families.
Because of the celebration 30 years of BMX/Old Skool Reunion, cottages and camping-site locations will be available at a very special price. Also Attractiepark Slagharen has something to celebrate, ...... its 45 years of existence in 2008.
Accomodation.
Participants and their families (2 parents and 4 children) are able to rent a cottage, type Arizona from October 3rd till 5th 2008 for the price of € 175,= (this price includes free entrance amusement park). For more details and booking check the website

Specially for this occasion also non families, like a group of friends Old Skool BMX’ers, will be allowed to rent a cottage, only limit is a maximum of 4 adults in one cottage.
If you are planning on using a camper, caravan or tent, the Slagharen Camping-site is available for you. One location (for camper, caravan or tent; seize doesn’t matter) for the weekend of October 3rd through 5th will cost you € 88,= total and includes free entry of
Attractiepark Slagharen for 2 adults and max. 4 children.

www.univofbmx.comWe are sorry to say that there is no “BMX Stadion Slagharen” anymore. The track has been closed and removed since 1994.
On Sunday October 5th however there is a Dutch National BMX event called ………
“Top-competition”. This event will be held at the BMX track at Dedemsvaart, about 7 KM away from Slagharen. This event will be for Dutch riders only and is organized by the KNWU
Royal Dutch Cycling Federation.

To give you all an idea, here the provisional planning of the weekend:
It’s our intention to try to have the first ever Olympic Champion(s) present at this Reunion.
Up till now, besides Dutch participation concerning this Reunion/Celebration, several Old Skool riders from Denmark, England, Latvia, Belgium, France and England have shown interest to be present.
Friday October 3rd. Arrival of participant with their families or friends.
From 14.00 hours on the accommodation will be available. Time to check out the park
and find out what changed since 1993.
19.00 hours official opening, welcomes party.
Saturday October 4th.
11.00 hours, official opening of BMX Museum (over 100 bikes).
BMX free-style demo’s during the day.
15.00 hours, O.S. BMX-bike and uniform election. Three categories, during a parade
bikes and uniform will be judged by an experienced jury. Participants
will be introduced to the public present. For details, check the wesbsite

18.30 hours Start of the Old Skool of BMX party for those interested in the main
restaurant near the main entrance of the park. Diner time! Details later on

20.00 hours Presentation of European BMX Hall of Fame members, handing out of
Hall of Fame awards per member present.
23.30 hours End of party.
Sunday October 5th.
9.30 hours Breakfast possible for all participants Reunion/Celebration. Location:
restaurant “Mountain Lodge”.
During the day, BMX free-style demo’s by top Dutch riders.
14.30 hours Official closing ceremony of this event.
19.00 hours All Reunion/Celebration participants and their families must have left
cottages, camping-site and amusement park.
The end of a hopefully fantastic weekend.
