LEARNED X -UPS..... :
« on: July 29, 2008, 02:33 AM »

I have been trying to learn x-ups ever since the 1st time I saw one done!!!  ;D

Just could never do em.....  :-\

And now... finally... some 20 odd years later... I Actually did one!!!  8)

I was so bloody ecstatic you'd think I just invented the x-up!!!  :)

( Pic by Obbie... on his garden halfpipe... )

Now if only I can learn lookbacks properly...  ???

any tips on getting lookbacks will be greatly appreciated!!  :daumenhoch:

Sounds mental, but learn to air opposite way to do lookbacks

or as some cheeky scamp at Benfleet does, take off normal way with your pedals the wrong way  :crazy2:

That X-up is spot on. Knees in nice and tight, and just past full X  :daumenhoch:

To get a nice lookback you gotta get your weight on the back pedal and do at least a 1/4 crank backwards. (Or so Im told, cos I cant get them either :tickedoff:)

Alex is right, cog back about 1/4 turn on tha pedals, your left leg (as you air same as me) is now higher so giving you more room to move your body to one side of the bike, then twist them bars!!

Job done :daumenhoch:

Yeahh thats a great pic!!

right so i...  crank back 1/4 so my left foot is by the seat

so my left leg is straight... then... get the bars round!!

One other thing that scares me though...

it looks like the back wheel is pushed right over the platform!!  :-\

cant wait to try em!!  ;D

Cheers guys!!  :daumenhoch:

That's what worries me as well, I've done them oppo from quarter to flat bank, too scared to try them just on the quarter at the moment.

nice xup. nice height too. Its beyond me how anyone can do a style AND an air at the same time. My airs are basically the same as  180 bunnhops on the flat.  . Its like asking me to throw in a decade at the same time...

to get lookback clicked you will (i think) have to air opposite or go goofy footed so this way u can fully stretch round on the bike
they seem to work for me as im goofy lol

great x-ups aswell  :4_17_5:

Ya know, i think evryone i've seen do lookbacks lately do them in opposite airs!!

there's a young lad we ride with... Alex.. ( Amazing kid )... he ride's goofy.. gets them nice too!!

I think it would be scary to air goofy though!!
