30+ Cruiser or Old School
« on: April 12, 2008, 08:50 AM »
Which should I do?

I raced back in the late 80s, early 90s, and now I want to give it another go, but I'm not sure which category to race in?  I'll probable race local races (North-West and maybe the odd regional).

So what would everyone recommend? (So that I know what type of bike to be on the look out for)

I realise most on here are racing Old School, but I wonder whether I'd get a reasonable old school bike for my limited budget?

Andy, it depends how confident and competitive you feel right now after not racing for so long.

If you think you still have what it takes, then jump in the deep end and race 30+/30-39 cruiser.

If, however, you would like to get the hang of things again, but still have fun and feel challenged, start in the old school and see where that leads you.

I have to agree with Mike, racing the old school is a good starter, you can find your feet and get used to racing again, without being too serious.

I"d say the cruiser is easier to ride and more forgiving, i"d love a go at old skool but i"m scared of getting on one of those old skool bikes, theres a race at lytham tomorow if you fancy coming down let me know and i"ll bring my cruiser for you to have a go, i"ll also have my 20" but new skool  :daumenhoch:
