Early S&M Dirtbike done (almost)
« on: March 31, 2008, 04:39 AM »
Not to steal from Alex's shining moment with the aquisition of his Mad Dog, but since we are talking early S&M's, I finally pieced my 1989 Dirtbike together. This bike is my "Holy Grail" and I had to sell my Mad Dog frame and fork about two years ago to get this one. I ordered a blue one back in 1990 and had to settle for a black and chrome one instead. It still needs Redline or Profile cranks and I want to ditch the Tech 99 lever for a 77, and maybe if I ever find some early high cross bar Slam bars, but other then that, she is staying as is:

Parts run down:
1989 S&M Dirtbike frame and fork(big head tube rings, no downtube/headtube gusset)
S&M Slam bars
DK XXL stem
Tioga Beartrap headset with a GT Epoch cover( I've always liked the way the Epochs looked)
Previously NOS Robinson lay back seat post
Selle Italia Turbo seat
Pitbull brake
DC Tech 99 lever
standard bottom bracket
JMP? cranks
Mongoose Pro Class Power disc
Tuf-Neck chain ring
cheapie pedals
Araya 7x with GT hubs
Kenda "comp III's" 1.75 rear 2.125 up front
Jive grips and ends
S&M pad set(with a few shots of the white S&M pad just for looks)
New stickers in the works.

That's a great build Matt, nice to see another real early one, and like the fact that you got the correct forks to go with it.

PM'd you about the bars,

Craig
