Holeshot RF-1
« on: March 24, 2008, 07:19 PM »

It would appear that no one seems to have one of these or even knows anyone with one of these.
So should one suddenly appear, how much do you reckon it would go for?

:) I guess you could ask whatever you wanted. Some wealthy UK collector would probably snap it up,then tease us all mercillessly! Then there would be a load of bitching,ie is it genuine etc.Sooner or later one is going to pop up.How many were made, and were they sold through shops or just Holeshot themselves?

i think i remember reading somewhere once that only about 150 were made. i imagine Neil broke a few. Robert too.  Don't know how close to the truth that is.

Is that a loaded question Trev?  :P

I still drive through Walthamstow at 10mph, just looking for an Ace or RF1. I will find one or the other one day, after all thats where both frames were born.
Me an Nik found a young kid on a Hutch the other day, but he refused to sell it..pmsl, if it is a Holeshot or Ace I may have to try more persuasive tactics :knuppel2:  :knuppel2:   :knuppel2:

I think I'd probably be able to pay a large chunk of my mortgage off if it were.   ::)

Have mentioned before on here that  I am 99% sure it was Bernie Vincent of vincent frames that manufactured (In the uk) the holeshot frames, they did have a reputation bitd of breaking as did the Airzone frame that vincent made. in the 80's every bfa national neil rode he was riding a different colour holeshot frame was this because he was braking them? I heard they sold 250 of them.

As we all know, a something is only "worth" what someone is going to pay.

And as its only Trev who keeps going on about RF1s then I cant see one fetching that much  >:D :2funny:

One was stolen from a shed, just outside Banbury. It was bought direct from Andy Ruffel by one of the Mons Ramp locals, after he had a ride on Neils when they shot the Holeshot add there

Don't think I've ever seen one close up.....I wasn't doing many comps by the time they came out so only really saw them in the magazines I think. I don't remember seeing one up close but then again there's lots of stuff I can't remember these days!  ::)

Surely there's other bikes that they didn't make loads of as well as the RF-1......how many WAL Riots were made for instance, later I know but you don't see many.

I'm rambling again!

I think the RF-1 would be easily recognised the top tube platform was wide at the seat tube like a streetbeat i think it had a rotor tab on the headtube which was pretty rare for the time. The decals were poor the same as the decals they used to hand out at the holeshot comps, most of the frames i seen robert and neil ride had no decals.
If you saw an RF-1 from a distance it resembled a streetbeat suppose this is not surprising considering neil had just come off skyway.

 :LolLolLolLol:

Im just having a pop at my mate Geoff, cos he worked/rode for WAL in the early years, and had about 3 Riots

But they were pretty horrid frames.  ;D

(He might still have 2 of the frames. He gave one to a mate of ours a few years ago and it got stolen from outside his house).
