The X games has changed a lot in the last 5 years though and it's trying to be too much.

I always prefered the Gravity Games anyway. :daumenhoch:

Sad but true, The americans can't stand not winning so i suppose it was only a matter of time before this happened !

flatland gone, dirt gone, now vert. its only a matter of time before bmx is is dropped (or the x games closes up) if all they are having is park/street. vert is roots of freestyle to me as there's nothing better than watching a good ole vert battle with all the big guns blazing. down to the old do or die motto on some of the crazy moves around now.

Jamie Bestwick is now seen as unbeatable in vert as was Mat Hoffman for a time back in the day!!

maybe thats why they're dropping vert ? becoming too predictable??

or maybe they think vert riders are a dying breed?

i hope its not getting dropped though, its the only reason i watch the X Games!!

Funny you say about a dying breed....

Down creation of a sunday morning the kids dont go near it..

Every now n then one or 2 of the regulars who talk to us older guys will come and have a mess about but very few get out the top and are really arsed in it.

shame because vert is hardcore.

The trouble is if you`re going to learn to ride vert it takes a lot of time and loads of slams to get any good, thats why they arn`t many, if any, youngsters learning to ride it  :idiot2:

plus you have to pad right up and thats far from trendy

add the lack of pics in mags that arnt contest pics , most riders want to stay away from the sponsored by a company image

Rampworx got rid of their 10ft halfpipe years back...    :'(

Stockport ( Bones i think ) took down one half of their halfpipe...

A few out door parks have gotten rid of halfpipes and vert quartres...

I'm not supprized vert riders are a dying breed!!

or maybe park is just more interesting to the new skool than vert is!!

Some kids that i know say the 14ft halfpipes with 2ft vert are just too hard to ride...
so slightly smaller halfpipes would encourage ppl to ride vert i think!!

I know if Rampworx were to put a halfpipe back into the park, it would produce some talented new vert riders!!

Thats sucks if its true.  BMX Vert was the biggest draw for the x games for a lot of years.

They should show a little respect. Enough riders have sacrificed their bones for that mob.

There is nothing to compare it too.   I suppose they'll just go with that big air ramp bollocks.

well thats the yanks for ya...  they'll be some big arse quartres plonked onto the park course!!

It seems the big corperations are trynig to rule the sport again... isnt that what killed the sport off the 1st time??

X Games must be worth quite a lot to the big wigs???

that's the trouble, vert, dead flat 2ft or more of dead flat ;D

the way the tricks and the riding is today is that the new skool can't pull

there tricks from a vert take off and i can see there point,

most of todays big tricks need smooth transitions just to launch them

into there trick,  todays tricks are so advanced and it's the take off that determins

these tricks, most new skool riders will shun vert all day,  sad but that's the way it's

going  :(

You will realise its even sadder when I say this is at good indoor all wood parks.
I think what happens is they ride only street and then end up at an indoor park and cant ride transitions because they haven't  encountered them on the streets so they ride the terrain there used too which is banks.

I ride the vert at creation all the time- in fact i'm not that keen on the other ramps (give or take a 1/4).The same for corby yesterday.Vert was great but i dont like jump boxes and seeing kids 'airing' on a ramp that is 4/5 ft high and isnt a full 1/4 just looks wrong to me.More like a bunny hop.Shings is right-even the young regulars at creation who do whips, flips and trix dont go on the vert because
Quote
'its too scary mate'[un quote].Good for me cause the ramps always empty!

It's sad when you think that the X games only came out of the BS series run by Hoffman, that was just a vert contest to start with.
