Tribute section?
« on: March 18, 2008, 09:06 AM »
after reading the History thread where the great names in the sport from BITD have been listed, it got me thinking of maybe a Tribute section for the likes of the late and great names who have unfortunately passed on?  such as Neil Ruffle and Pepi??

they were true greats and not everyone knows just how great these riders were and what they achieved in the sport?  if there are web sites dedicated to the above names then maybe a simple link? (i know Andy has a page or two on his site for his bro) but it would also be great for the younger members to read and keep their great names and history alive!

 ???

To me one of the best teams of the 80's The curbdogs, plus dave was a great inavator of this amazing sport,   :4_17_5: and rode a lovely proto type that would become the streatbeat   ;)

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

I can see it no problem. Maybe your firewall is blocking that site for some reason?  ???

If anyone wants to do some tribute Web pages then I don't mind hosting them.

I haven't got time to design them so somebody would have to be willing to do this.

Once all the magazines are scanned, there should be loads of material on all the riders, living and passed on.

If we have a whip round, we could buy a good domain name.

Had a quick check and www.bmxlegends.co.uk was available for £6.09 for 2 years.

If anyone has any better domain names then LMK.

also passed away- rick allison, darren wright, david maw, joe tiseo. sad that as we get older more names will be added but i guess thats a sad fact of life.
lost 2 rider friends myself- marc reardon back in feb 14th 1989 and paul kimpton around '99 i think - born with cystic fibrosis which generally means a short life expectancy.

If I buy www.bmxlegends.co.uk for £6.09 would any of you like to do some webpages for some of these riders.

If you do a stand-a-lone webpage (it can have multiple pages within it) with all the content on (pictures, video, bio etc, etc) then I would to a Home page do a link to all these riders.

This site wouldn't be just for riders who have passed away either.

Once all my mags are scanned.  I think they will be enough pictures, interviews etc, etc to do Webpages for all the great BMX riders.

I don't mind spend £6 on it and I dont mind hosting it.  But I would need help making the webpages.

What do you think?

Done!!

http://www.bmxlegends.co.uk

Everyone start collecting pictures, interviews, videos, stories, biographys of any BMX Rider living or deceased.

Start making up webpages for these riders and I'll update the site in few weeks.

That will give people plenty of time to find some material.

Luv that pic of Neil, it was taken from his ramp run at lowestoft bfa national he slid out on the landing. He also did an air in the same run where he jumped from the pedals onto his frame and landed with his feet on the frame, he went for a framestand fakie at the other end and slid out again on the roll back.
He bailed alot on his airs but for me this made him more exciting to watch, my favourite rider of all time. RIP.
