CHROME/POWDER HELP PLEEEEEEEEEEASE!
« on: March 18, 2008, 09:01 AM »
Ive got (at last) an 84 performer. Its chrome. To get it perfect how i want it, i wanna get the drop outs repaired and it also has a little dent in the top tube so i have to get the chrome removed first in order to get it prep'd for repair.

Its cheaper to get the chrome taken off by shotblasting rather than reversing the chroming process. Anyone ever had this done or is it best to get it removed by a chromers?

Nick ;)

Not sure about shot blasting it, but deplating it is easy and then you can take it away and give it a good rub down, prep it and fix the areas before its given back to the chromers. This is what I've done recently with my Gen 1  ;)

Wouldn't recommend getting it blasted fella!!
... that would give a rougher finish to the metal which would make it more difficult to polish up before the rechrome!!
