Suntour XCI and XCII Beartrap Pedals
« on: March 10, 2008, 11:50 AM »
Hey there,

Just picked a nice set of early version 9/16 Suntour Beartraps off the bay.

Just wondered if anyone knows if the black cages are an anodised finish or not as I want to "mint" them up!

Any advice would be much appreciated guys!

Cheers

John

Hey Matt,

Yeh from memory I thought that too... but now I have them the finish seems way too thin for powder??

Pretty sure they are anodised, I stripped some rough ones with oven pride and polished them and they came up nice.

How does ovenpride affect chrome... the allen bolts have some rust in them.... would ovenpride remove the rust and not affect the chrome on the bolts?

Ovenpride won't touch the rust, best thing there is to pop them into a drill and use some fine wire wool, alternatively try and find a nut and bolt shop that does replacement ones, which is what I am going to do for mine.  If I find some I'll drop you a note  :daumenhoch:.
