My new SE Racing Helmet
« on: March 04, 2008, 03:31 PM »
I have recently bought some of the retro SE BMX race kit to go with my retro Quadangle.

Have the SE Racing Jersey and Gloves, so decided that my black and grey No Fear Optimal MX helmet doesn't go with the kit.  SO, I had it sprayed in SE Racing colours.  I was going to have the helmet done in the original design and colours, but decided to be a bit more modern with the colour scheme instead.

What do you think?

Thats Sweet Mr Stidds. Good job done there.

I assume though, you ride a Kuwahara.
One build a year, the only way to get it right. No rushing involved.

Give me a call and bring them over mate, or I can pop to yours and finally teach you how to do it  ;) .  After seeing your excellent plastering work then we may be able to come to some kind of arrangement as I will need some plastering done soon.

I used Plastikote colours for this, the colours used were a white primer, white basecoat, Light Blue Gloss, Chocolate Brown Gloss and Ice Cream Matt.

Thanks for the compliments guys.  I really enjoyed doing the helmet also, although really scary when you start sanding down a perfectly good brand new MX helmet.

Plastikote paints are stocked at all B&Q's, you can also use car paint spray.

With the masking I used 3M masking tape and also car pinstriping tape as it has zero bleed when applied correctly, although you have to reduce the overall tack of it as it is way too sticky otherwise.

If anyone is interested I can post up the full instructions on how to paint your own helmet (ooerr  ;) )

Not to sure about your final comment Sean  :police: :LolLolLolLol:
