i think whoever it is has  hacked something.either the ebay procedure or accounts. you cant place a bid like that unless there has been hundreds of bids....

I always thought a Sniper program could do that to the bid; I've been beaten to numerous items with a large gap between my highest bid and the winners bid :-\.

I am sure Stidds will be along to give us a clue as to what has happened, I hope he's not been stiffed as he's a good guy  :(.

I really haven't got used to shill bidding have I chaps????

Seriously, what a interesting day that has been.

Was out with the missus all day and returned to a complete mess.

Basically received an email from Ebay regarding the 2nd highest bidder, saying that illegal activity has occured on that account and the bid should be discounted.  Unfortunately nothing on the highest bidder.

I received an email from the highest bidder, inviting me to click a link to see the payment for the frame.  This link is to a dodgy website with a ebay front page.  It asks me to input my account name and password (Of course I am going to do that  ::) ).  I have since had to contact ebay to get everything cleared up.

Trouble is that now I have a massive ebay fee levied against my account.  I cannot do anything with the frame until it has been sorted.

Some people are absolute c***s.  :LolLolLolLol:

Stidds,

Ebay should sort the fee out, afterall it is their systems that have been hacked :2gunsfiring_v1: If they don't please let us all know.

Stidds, PMSL at your shill bidding quote.

But as mentioned above surely you don't have to pay the fees as the f&f aren't actually sold. Ebay only take a fee from the sale of an item.

As I see it you pay to list, then pay a percent of the sold item value. Technically the frame is not sold so you don't pay a fee.  :daumenhoch:

What's shill bidding ?????????????
One build a year, the only way to get it right. No rushing involved.

Shill bidding is where you use a different user id to up the auction amount.

Quick update for you all.

I had an email from Ebay this morning telling me that they suspect illegal account activity on the highest bidders account (no sh*t  ;D ).  Ebay have now removed the listing and are refunding me all of the fees that I incurred.
