Collarbone break update
« on: February 28, 2008, 04:37 PM »
Just got back from The hospital after having my second X-rays on my break done.

Three weeks ago a displaced fracture of the right clavicle was seriously depressing me. After numerous calls to the wonder man in Ipswich i decided not to see him, partly because i had quite a few other injury's that were either ligament or bruising which were going to take the same time as to fix as the break .

Today my displaced fracture is no more, it has re aligned itself some how and healed 90%. My ribs are still sore from two of them being cracked but have pretty much healed also.
I still have ligament strains of the AC joint but another week or so of rotating my shoulder should see me with a lot more shoulder movement.
Sadly i also have a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint., basically its called a joint but it isn't one. Its where the collarbone meets up with the sternum. This has been pushed out of place and will now stay there. No surgery is needed but it means i will have a nice bony lump stuck out just below my throat. It may go down a bit in time after any inflammation disappears.

The doctors say that despite it being dislocated it shouldn't create me any problems in later life other than vanity ones on the beach.

My sling has gone, hopefully for good. My biggest mental problem now is having the balls to get back on a race bike.

Happy days chaps.
