frame suggestions, please.
« on: February 16, 2008, 08:54 PM »
I posted this on a couple of US sites but I'm curious to see what the UK guys would do with this:
thanks in advance for your suggestions. :)

I recently completely wiped out my excess bike parts down to just rideable complete bikes. Very refreshing.
So I've been collecting some misfit parts to build another nostalgic late 70s/early 80s rider.

I've discovered that I tend to have a fetish for double gusset frames.  Thought about a DG but it looks to be a bit small. Leaning toward a nickel supergoose with the curvey dropouts.

If you were building with these parts, what frame would you use?

parts in the picture:
Ukai hoops/Schwinn hubs (Sting)
Tange TRX forks
Tiger stamped Tuf neck with some quill issues.
lee-chi brake calipers
low end Tange seat clamp

Interesting choice.
maybe that's why i like double gussetts.
This was my first cromoly bmx bike and I still have it.

It's just recently occuring to me after joining this site that you guys have a whole different selection of bikes from back then, and some are simply the same frame with a different name.

Tange do a variation of frames mainly based around the KZ1 frame, like the Hot Heart.  personally I would try and go for something different, maybe a Cooks Bros or possibly even an early round gusset Torker.  Failing availbility of those two then the Tange option is a good one too  :daumenhoch:.

Better to crash and burn than fade away

I'll check into the Tange stuff.  what is the link for uk ebay?

Here is a Cook I sold off earlier this winter. great craftsmanship, rode nice but it was a little steep in the steering.
