Dia Compe MX Clamp Help
« on: February 09, 2008, 01:58 PM »
Ok. Bought this from the For Sale section this week after searching for a while for right colour. Got it only to discover it's been overtightened and the alloy lugs have splayed out where the pin has bowed out as well.It looks at busting point and on my frame when i put it on the tube it doesnt even clamp the post.

Any ideas if this can be rescued guys.I paid good money for it and would rather use it if i can.  :'(

Sorry about cameraphone closeups...

Tiz fooked by the looks of it  :-\ Looks like its been used on the bigger seat tube ie - Burner
But it would take some force to do that to it  >:(
Like Matt says , did the seller mention it  ??? If not you have been done over bud  :knuppel2:

I think it's recoverable, I've sent a pic of it to a mate to see what he says, he might be able to tell us what to do or may ve able to make up another rivet for it  :daumenhoch:.

Thanks for the advice thus far guys. Seller has kindly offered a refund and based on the fact with my DIY skillz,i cant even knock a nail into the wall straight,i dont think i'll try to rectify this. The pin looks at breaking point. If i bend it back i only see it weakening and when i come to use it on a frame and tighten,it's bound to break at some stage? Shame really. This is the second part i've bought in a week i really needed, only to find out it's damaged once i have it. (No silly smilies to end paragraph this time)

Mr Truffle how quickly do you need one, as I have one which I don't need now. Trouble is all my stuff is in storage in Lincoln as I am currently living out of a bag, at my folks, until I get a new place. So I won't be collecting my stuff for at least another month or so.

So if you can wait , i'll earmark it for you and we can sort a price out then. Let me know

Marc
