Hi all,
does anyone know of a good engineering company in Essex? I want to have the drop outs widened on an old school fram so that i can fit new school wheels....

yellow pages, or you could try the local college/uni if they have a machine shop and a technician/teacher/lecturer etc...

get a dremmel and do it yourself fella.....i used a dremmel on some forks and it ate through the chro mo in no time with the sanding drum attachment....b and qs do there own brand dremmel for around a score bloke

It can be done gently with an angle grinder..... Get a couple of bits of heavy steel plate, 5mm or thicker and clamp them either side of the dropout in the appropriate position. you can either take all the material out of the top or bottom (it doesn't ride any different) or equal amounts off both if you want to keep the axle dead-centre. Then gently grind way until you're touching all the way along your steel plate guide. A little tidy up with a file and you're there. Many, many riders have done this no worries. Just go easy is all.....

Instead of all the above you could just file the axle of the wheel so its slotted it will then fit 10 or 14mm dropout frames
