my first build
« on: February 06, 2008, 06:16 PM »
well i guess officially this would be my first restoration project.  It's Darren Woods Skyway TA from when he raced for thier factory team in 1983/84.  He got the frame back by chance, it was rusting away in a friends garage and i've had it rechromed and got it back in good shape.

And before!

I've tried to make it as Darren would have run his bikes back then without having the budget or need to make it identical.
SPEC:
1983 Skyway TA frameset
Graphite tuffs (not the newies or the oldies, these are the ones they did about 10 years ago) grey label comp 3's
BT2 headset with gold hutch flex fighter/headlock and reproed ESP stem.
Original 83 GT survivor pro bars, oakley b2's, chrome SX lever, silver mx1000 and black skyway pro  pads with gold fins.
dual pinch flites with EGG powerdisc, tuff neck 44t ring and skyway graphite pedals. chrome izumi 1/8 chain.
elina lightning bolt, odyssey post with cw sticker and chrome dc hinged clamp.
NOS 1B plate with Darrens national number 5 and WC05 Whistler sticker, nice touch we think.

Should be meeting Darren next weekend at Hayes for the handing over ceremony!

I would have loved a white kashimax on there but hey ho i'm happy with everything else.  Darrens Jag cruiser however will be something a little bit special and different so watch out........

Great first build.  :4_17_5:

So what's next?

Next is Darren Woods old Jag cruiser which he had painted up in raleigh colours when he raced.  The bike ended up with Jason Duffy, then Baldbmxer, then diesel on here, now i've bought it to restore for Darren.

It's been powdered white, diesel had Jag stickers made for it and i'm going with a red/black parts theme.  I've also got an old zeronine on the go for me oh and Tom Lynch's Patterson which should be done anyday.
